INTERVIEW FAITH PICOZZI
How did you get started in Modeling?
I have always had a passion for fashion, but I ended up getting discovered by a modeling agent.
How has modeling changed your life?
It has taught me a lot about myself and other people. Staying strong and being persistent no matter what, never giving up! I also traveled around the world, which exposed me to different cultures, cuisines and that’s where I draw most of my influences from. All including recipes for my cookbook, my own personal fashion and decor/lifestyle.
What does fashion mean to you?
It’s an outer expression of who you are on the inside. Dress how you feel and be yourself! Have fun with it!
Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
Brigette Bardot.
Who was your role model as a child?
My mom.
What are your goals as a model?
1. To do what I love for a living and share that with the world.
2. To encourage people to follow their dreams.
3. I want to use my resources and public image to get the word out on helping our environment and all the animals that live in it. We have to take care of our Earth!
4. Spread knowledge about nutrition and eating healthy.
Who are some of your favorite models and designers, and why?
Models: Kate Moss, Freja Beha, Magdalena Frackowiak and Alek Wek. They each have an interesting look and always create a mood with their modeling.
Designers: Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Chloe and Saint Laurent. Their designs stand out to me and fit with my style/vibe.
What are your makeup bag staples when traveling?
Sunscreen, Mascara, Lip Gloss and Moisturizer.
How did you stay fit?
A mix of ballet class, cardio, jump rope, and hiking.
Which fashion magazines, websites, blogs, and catalogs do you visit most often?
Numero Magazine. French/Italian/British Vogue. Nylon Magazine. Style.com. Vintage blogs. 50s/60s/70s fashion style blogs. Food blogs.
How do you feel about the controversy of the size 0 in the industry?
I think beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Some girls are just naturally thin like myself. They shouldn’t be judged and neither should people of any other size. It’s mainly up to the client or the designer and what vision they have to bring the clothes/product to life. I do think this industry is changing and becoming more accepting of all sizes and looks!
Out of all of the photos the photographer took of you, which is your favorite and why?
My favorite photo is one that my boyfriend Filip Milenkovic took of me on film in Paris. The lightning, mood, location and outfit fit perfectly along with him capturing the timing of that special moment just right. Nothing was planned, usually the best photos happen that way 🙂
What is fun and rewarding about modeling?
That I get to do what I love for a living and work with other creative people! Each day is unique!
Also traveling the world, so far I’ve had the opportunity to live in Paris, London, Shanghai, New York, and am currently I’m based in L.A.
And what do you dislike?
I dislike people who are fake and in the industry for the wrong reasons. There’s no need for egos 🙂
What distinguishes a good photograph from a bad one?
It’s all about the feeling you get from the photo when you look at it. It should create a mood within you. The styling, location, hair/makeup all needs to mesh together! The model also has to have a connection with the camera; lighting is important as well.
How would you describe your style?
A mix of boho, vintage/retro, hollywood glamour and rock & roll.
What other modeling projects have you done?
I have done everything from print ads, campaigns, magazine editorials, galleries, interviews, runways, catalogs, book projects, and commercials.
The most important thing when you are shooting is?
To have fun and immerse yourself in whatever the shoot might be. Connect with the camera, be aware of your body positions and face angles. Listen to what the photographer/client is saying.
Photographer you dream to work with? and Why?
Mario Sorrenti, I just love his style of photography.
Name one beauty product you can’t live without?
Sunscreen.
What’s your advice for the newer models?
Modeling is not a race and everyone has their own moment to shine. Stay true to yourself and never give up on your dreams. Remember that it is hard work and not always as glamorous as this career is perceived to be.
What are guilty pleasures food wise?
Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate 🙂
What is your nutrition?
I like to eat healthy and to keep it all natural. I usually eat six times a day, three meals and three snacks. I try to use all organic ingredients that are fresh. I don’t eat meat and avoid certain dairy products, but I do eat fish.
