Now that you live in L.A., how often you visit the Gold Coast?
As a family we like to try and go once or twice a year, to fit it into our busy schedules can sometimes be tough. But it’s always worth it because it’s our real home.
What do you miss from the Gold Coast?
My friends and family. Most definitely. The beach and the chill lifestyle too and not to have to worry about traffic!
Why did you guys moved to LA?
We originally moved to LA for my brother, Cody. He was discovered online, by a producer and record label, so we decided to take the jump for his career basically and we thought it would be something fun to do. It’s given me a surreal opening and opportunity into this world as well.
Now talking about your career, what projects you are working on?
Many different things. But currently my most exciting and relevant project is my new radio show on Radio Disney, called ‘The Alli Simpson Show’. It’s every Friday night from 6pm-8pm and I get to talk about all things fashion, music, giving advice hot topics, crushes, interview celebs, friends and more. With over 10 million listeners a week. I’m also currently in the studio messing around on some new songs, so stay tuned! I also am the current face of Mudd Clothing, sold in Kohl’s stores throughout the USA. I am in the campaign with Noah Cyrus and Stella Hudgens (sister’s to Miley and Vanessa). We have a blast working together as we are all friends.
When did you first start singing?
I originally only started singing 2-3 years ago! Well (in public) LOL. I’ve always loved to sing but been too shy to sing in front of people….until now.
What did your family do to encourage you?
My older brother Cody ended up helping me with courage and confidence to come out and sing because he always knew I could sing. I was just very shy. He is an incredible brother with endless advice and support for me.
What is your dream collaboration?
A song with Selena Gomez would be insane….i am actually recording a song Selena and Cody wrote this week.
What music we can find on your iPod?
A little bit of everything! From hip-hop to rap to pop to country and much more. I have a wide love for music and genre!
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Ed Sheeran, hands down!
Any other member in your family is in the music business besides your brother Cody?
Not in the business but my whole entire family is very musical. Dad sings and plays guitar, he has done that his whole life. My mum can sing but she doesn’t know it! My little brother can also sing and he’s taught himself the piano.
Do you play any instrument?
Guitar! It’s been a while since I’ve picked it up, but I learned it for 2-3 years at school.
Are you currently working on a new song or album?
I am currently working on a new song I’m very excited about, but I can’t tell you the name yet.
Have you think in a future collaboration with Cody?
Yes we always talk about it. In the near future we will definitely be collaborating. Since we sing together around the house all the time.
On the acting side, what the best part of acting?
I think the coolest part about acting is stepping into someone else’s shoes for a little, and having the chance to push boundaries. It brings so much confidence!
What roles do you like to play? And why?
I like comedic roles. I like to be goofy and be funny. Laughing at myself rather than being too serious.
Who is your favorite actor/actress?
Cameron Diaz, Blake Lively, Jennifer Laurence, Reese Witherspoon, Bradley Cooper, Ansel Elgort, Brad Pitt.
Best advice ever given?
Be yourself. Do what you love, and only what you love. Smile. It’s as simple as that.
What are the five things you can’t live without?
My Family.
My Friends.
Music.
Peace & Love.
The Beach.
What can you not travel without?
My journal & my phone!
What is the weirdest fan experience you have had?
We got given a live baby turtle once. That wasn’t too weird though, that was honestly pretty cool!
Do you have a celebrity crush?
Ansel Elgort.
What do you do when you have some time off?
Hang with my friends. At cute little cafes or at the beach.
How do you cope with all the success and stress?
It gets very tough sometimes honestly. In this business I find the biggest struggle I face is physical appearance. The pressures of look great, and reaching societies standards. I’ve spent hours getting emotional over this stuff. I struggle with this myself honestly and i fight it everyday. I try to focus on a balanced and healthy diet, and exercising everyday. We can’t be too hard on ourselves, unfortunately society has an idea of perfection and I am far from it. We are all perfectly imperfect & there is beauty in being perfectly imperfect.. we can’t forget to love ourselves and who we are on the inside, as well as looking after ourselves on the outside at the same time. Confidence is a game we can ALL win, sometimes it gets tough. I think the answer is as simple as smiling, being present, and being grateful for who we are what we have.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I frequently get asked this question and I honestly just say I take it day by day. Because with my career I am dipping my feet into a little bit of everything. I’ve decided not put myself in a box, the possibilities are endless. If I’m happy, healthy, and have the opportunity to work with charities and help others. Then I’ll be just fine.
Fave food?
SUSSSHHHHIIII & fro-yo!
Modeling, Singing or Acting?
All of it!
What other hobbies do you have?
I love writing & photography. Cooking and and dancing with friends.
How important is Social Media for you?
I think nowadays social media is extremely important. It’s the way of the future! I just think, wish and hope that people become more kind on it. It should be used for social interactions and making friends and spreading love. Not hate, and bringing others down.
