Nashville has provided Autumn with a fresh city to create new memories; which is what her music is all about. With her latest single “Outline”, Autumn shares both her painful and happy life experiences and takes listeners on a journey of emotions.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26618″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Hi Autumn, please tell us a little about you?
I’m a singer-songwriter currently living in Nashville, Tennessee and loving life! A California girl at heart, I grew up in LA & San Diego and moved to Nashville in 2015 after some much-needed inspiration. The Nashville music scene has been so inspiring and has pushed me as a pop artist. I know some people still think of the city as country music only, but they should come to visit because it’s incredible to see how many diverse genres are thriving in Nashville.
Describe yourself in 6 words?
Joy. Love. Resilience. Energy. Powerful. Authentic.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
My Grandfather Norman Knight. He is an amazing human being with a heart of gold. Completely self-made, ambitious and has always taught us the importance of giving back.
How did you get started in the music business?
I grew up singing and performing and have never stopped. I was singing before I could talk and my parents knew from an early age that I had a passion for the arts. At age 10, I started taking private singing and piano lessons and fell in love with singing and the process of songwriting. After High School, I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and took my music knowledge to the next level. I knew then that the entertainment & music industry was where I was meant to be.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
My father was an eccentric business entrepreneur and my mother a model & artist. They played the best music in the house; Fleetwood Mac, Simon & Garfunkel, Dire Straits, Steely Dan, etc. When I discovered Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan is when I knew I wanted to write my own original music. There is magic and so much emotion in their voices. I knew I wanted to create that in my own unique way. I started writing my own music and then quickly got inspired to perform live.
Do you ever get nervous?
I don’t get too nervous…It’s more anticipation and a readiness to explode on stage. The stage and singing have always been home to me.
What is your next goal as a musician?
My next goal is to film my music video for my new single and continue recording kick ass music.
Do you have a Tour coming up or where we can see you perform?
I have some exciting shows in the works in Nashville, Los Angeles, and New York. I will also be touring this year!
Now tell us about your latest single “Outline?”
“Outline” is a very special song to me and one that ignited my new sound. The song has this feel good, light energy and is all about transformation and finding yourself in a new city. I’m very grateful to my producer, Austin Shawn, and bass player, Curt Hovland, who helped me bring it to life. There is an amazing creative flow between the 3 of us. Overall “Outline” has a message about new chapters and new beginnings that anyone can relate to.
What we can expect of Autumn Knight in 2019?
Lots of new music and live shows! I love performing! I also have a passion for acting, so film and TV projects are definitely in the future.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
I love belting out “Shallow” from A Star is Born – Lady Gaga
Name one of your strengths?
Loving authentically and seeing the beauty in others! It’s very important to surround yourself with people who lift you up and inspire. I always try to be a shining light in someone’s life. Women especially should be encouraging and supporting one another.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Doing what I love and enjoying the journey. Great health and surrounding myself with positive people. Family and friends are so important to me.
Any loves other than music?
Acting! I grew up performing in theatre and now I’m working to break into TV and film work. I have an amazing coach, William Arnold, at The 4th Wall Acting Studio in Nashville and he is bringing out the best in me.
