For its second performance release, NikeCourt presents an amalgamation of the Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour and the Air Jordan 3, this time in black.
Roger Federer debuted the original NIKECOURT Zoom Vapor AJ3 earlier this year in New York, in the presence of his idol, the man with whom he shares the same obsession with winning, Michael Jordan.
“After growing up rooting for Michael in my youth, it was an absolute honor to have him come and support me in New York,” Federer says. “Wearing the AJ3, which we worked on together, made it even more special.”
“The fans are always so inspiring, and I have to admit that having MJ in the crowd added that little bit of extra pressure, but in the best possible sense.”
SPORT INNOVATION WITH AN ATTITUDE
The NIKECOURT Zoom Vapor AJ3 by Jordan combines the sport innovation of the Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour with the attitude and off-court appeal of the Air Jordan 3.
Both Federer and Jordan were closely involved in the creative process led by Tinker Hatfield, who has designed some of the most coveted Jordan signature models, as well as seminal Nike silhouettes, such as the Air Max 1, Air Trainer 1 and Air Huarache.
“Tinker is amazing to work with: It’s his passion and determination to refine every tiny detail that have allowed him to create the classics that we all know and love,” Federer says.
“I can’t wait to wear the new AJ3 on court. The black really transforms the whole shoe, giving it a distinctive look.”
The NIKECOURT Zoom Vapor AJ3 shares signature details of the Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour — Federer’s shoe of choice — including Dynamic Fit technology that adapts the sneaker to the wearer’s foot, a Nike Zoom unit housed in cushioned and supportive Phylon and a low-profile upper. In the sleek black colorway, the NIKECOURT Zoom Vapor AJ3 also features the wide Air Jordan 3 Jumpman-embroidered tongue, signature RF graphics, premium leather, elephant-print panels and the instantly recognizable Nike Air branding on the heel.
