Sports Illustrated hosted ‘The Golf Classic,’ a much-awaited VIP golfing event that took place on Monday, July 10th at the prestigious Angeles National Golf Club. Celebrating its 19th year, The Golf Classic is a standout event in the country’s golfing landscape and has initiated a first-time collaboration with Sports Illustrated to broaden the event’s outreach through the renowned media company. The event brings together networking opportunities, friendly competition, and charity through a scrimmage-style tournament, raising funds annually for UCLA Children’s Hospital.
Notable attendees included the special guest host Austin Reeves (LA Lakers) who was accompanied by celebrities from various domains, including NBA star Metta World Peace, Joe Haden, Charles Oakley, Evan Ross, Brody Jenner, Brandon Thomas Lee, Gabriel Aubry, Tom Ellis, Skeet Ulrich, Jesse Lee Soffer, Paris Brosnan, Austin Mills, Blake Webber, Ryan Hansen, Jake Adams, Jesus of Golf, Chord Overstreet, Don Benjamin, Adam Senn, Kyle Schmidt, Erik Paladino, Nate Hill, DJ Politik, Beau Casper Smart, and Ashley Haas, who served as the event’s emcee. The event had a total of 120 participants.
The Golf Classic was founded in 2004 with the aim to create an environment where executives and VIPs from the entertainment industry could network and compete alongside celebrity guests for a charitable cause. Orchestrated by premier experiential marketing agency, ENTER, and its creative founder Zev Norotsky, the event has since been hailed as the progenitor of lifestyle-focused golfing events, drawing in significant personalities from various fields, including sports, nightlife, entertainment, and creative industries.
This year, The Golf Classic in Los Angeles featured an array of beverage partners, including Casamigos, Saint James Tea, Celsius Energy, Flying Embers Hard Kombucha, and Hello Soju. Guests were also offered Mezcla and Liquid Death, alongside Drip Hydration Protein shots. Wellness relief was provided on-site by Hyperice massage area, and OOKA showcased their innovative new doseable pod device. Other sponsor at the event was the sneaker care company CrepProtect.
On the culinary front, Beyond Meat and the popular Yeastie Boys food truck satiated attendees with their on-site offerings, while Uncle Paulie’s offered their signature dishes. This year’s official hotel partner was L’ermitage Beverly Hills, and BMW was introduced as the auto partner for The Golf Classic.
The second annual SI INVITATIONAL is scheduled for February 8th in Las Vegas, with further details to be announced.
