The show focuses on where Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence are now, 30 years after the All Valley Karate Tournament. Daniel’s life is smooth-sailing, but Johnny’s, not so much. Drama and comedy ensue! Amanda is the new Miagi for Daniel.
Courtney’s past projects include “The Big Bang Theory” and “Mom.”[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”24917″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Describe yourself in 3 words?
Tall, silly, sensitive
Who is your biggest supporter?
My husband
How did you get started in the industry?
My uncle worked at a local talent agency in Long Island and I got a job being their receptionist. From there I would harass the head agent about submitting me for any role I thought was remotely right for me. Eventually he caved and submitted me for my ground breaking role in “The Bog Creatures”. What do you mean you’ve never heard of it?
What was your first acting role?
My mom cast me as “Orange tree #2” in her first grade play. I was an outstanding tree.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
Best is, you’re getting paid to do what you love! Worst is, no job security.
Best advice ever given?
Stop plucking your eyebrows
How is working on the new YouTube Red series Cobra Kai?
It’s pretty fantastic!
Tell us about your character as the wife of the popular Daniel LaRusso?
She is the consummate voice of reasons, especially when Daniel starts to get dragged back into his past rivalry.
What has been your most memorable experience from the set so far?
The day it snowed in Atlanta. It just looked like flurries to me, but the whole production had to shut down because Atlanta is not prepared for snow storms the way a city like say, Boston would be.
What other projects you have been part of?
I recently had the opportunity to return to The Big Bang Theory for their season finale. And that’s always fun.
Who is your favorite Actor/Actress? And why?
Philip Seymour Hoffman. He was just so goddamn brilliant in everything he did.
3 things you can’t leave your house without?
A huge bottle of water, chapstick and my phone
What music do you like?
I like a little of everything. Huge fan of music from the 90’s. Love to sing along with musicals. Hip-hop when I’m driving to auditions. Jazz when I’m cooking. Disney radio when I’m wrestling my son….
Your idea of a perfect Sunday is?
Sleeping past 7am. Taking a long walk with my family. Ordering takeout and snuggling in bed watching The Handmaid’s Tale.
How’s a normal day in your life?
I attempt to wake up before my 15 month old son to try and go to the gym. Then I spend the rest of the day preventing him from killing himself on one of his many kamikaze missions. Then make dinner, put that crazy kid to sleep and try and trick my husband into watching The Handmaid’s Tale with me.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Kimchi!
And your favorite cheat food?
French fries. Always.
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Not aging a bit thanks to some magic clinical dermatologist I find on the Internet who will send a vampire to bite me or whatever they do to keep people looking youthful.
Do you support any charities?
Right now I’m helping to raise money for a group called Generation Awakening. They help to bring awareness and change to several issues impacting our planet today. Endangered species, animal rights, our oceans, alternative energy…the list goes on and on. I’m currently focusing on endangered species and ways we can protect their future.
