Hi Debbie please tell us about you?
My name is Debbie Carroll, I’m originally from Ireland but now living in Las Vegas. I was a lead dancer in Michael Flatley’s ‘Lord of the Dance’ which brought me to the US. I am now pursuing my dream to be a world class fashion designer.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Passionate, Ambitious, Loyal.
Why did you decide to become a fashion designer?
I started out designing and creating dresses for myself because I really struggled to find clothing which I liked. I was getting so much attention when I was wearing my designs on nights out, this gave me the confidence to start designing and making dresses for other girls. I pretty much discovered fashion designing by accident.

How do you describe your fashions and style?
All my design represents elegance, class, sophistication and glamour. I want to create a modern day woman with a timeless style. Class never goes out of style.
What is it like working for yourself now and who is your dream client?
I love working for myself. It gives me the freedom to be as creative as I want and truly do what I love. I know my success and dreams are up to me to fulfill, what you put in is what you get back. Its hard work but it is more than worth it. To me, it’s not a job, it’s a lifestyle. I am my own boss. My dream client would be Kate Middleton, she’s not only a female icon, she is a style icon too and she represents the clientele I aspire to design for.
What is your favorite part about being a fashion designer?
I love helping people create their perfect dress and making them happy. It is so gratifying to receive the emails and text from my clients expressing their delight for my pieces. The greatest reward comes from designing and making wedding dresses, I have made 10 in total and it is an honor to know these women are wearing my pieces for the most important day of their life.
How did you select the materials you used?
I personally make every design for myself first. I make sure the quality is right, it fits perfect and the fabric is durable and comfortable to wear before promoting and selling. I put my name to my pieces so it must meet my high standards and this has proven to be very successful.
Who was your role model as a child?
My mother is my definite role model. She taught me hard work and dedication pays off, to never settle and always strive for bigger and better things.

Shelbi Byrnes is an up and coming model who I have worked with in the past. She has the perfect look for my brand and I feel she could pull anything off. She is one to watch.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I want to have developed my business into global brand. I want to expand my business online capturing the market across the globe. I have always wanted to own my own boutique which I will be opening within this time period.
Best advice ever given?
My mother told me to never take anything for granted, be grateful every day because things can come as quickly as they go.
How did you stay fit?
I own a dance studio and teach and train for 4hrs, 3 days a week. I live an active lifestyle and eat healthy.
How is a normal day in your life?
Because I own 2 businesses, a dance studio and fashion designer, my typical working day can be extremely varied. It always starts with coffee and I always call my mummy to get me in the right mind set before the working day starts. I make regular visits to fabric stores and my tailors and meeting clients for fittings. I also find enough time to market my business and promote my designs.
