Gemma Marin is a Spanish actress and dancer. She was born on July 19th 1986, in Valencia, known internationally for “La paella” and “Les falles”. Les Falles, is an ancient tradition that commemorates the art of the artistes fallers. Since a very early age, she was constantly acting and dancing in front of her family and friends. At the age of two, she stood up on a stage for the first time. Her siblings, Suso and Olga, shared the same love for acting. This passion has been always encouraged and supported by her parents, who have stressed the importance of work ethic and moral values.
When Gemma was 12 years old, she began competing professionally in Ball Room Contests. Five years later, she was cast to dance with the internationally known singer, Manolo Escobar.
While dancing professionally, she started her nursing career in Medical School. When attending college, she booked a role in the regional TV show Negocios de Familia. This experience had a big impact on her and she realized that her dream and vocation was to become a movie star. This was the beginning of her successful acting career. Gemma moved to Madrid and began taking acting lessons with Raquel Perez and Juan Codina.
In the following years, she combined her dramatic arts studies with her nursing job and dancing vocation. She was hired by Sunny Singh’s dance company, which toured Spain for two years.
Her devotion for acting was growing more and more every time she performed a new role. She worked for national prime time TV Shows like Aida, La que se avecina, and Amar en tiempos revueltos, among others. In 2012, Gemma debuted on the big screen, starring in the romantic comedy Stuck to your pillow alongside her brother, Suso Marin.
The distribution of this film in USA took Gemma to the next level in her career. At this moment, she decided to move to Los Angeles, the epicenter of the motion picture industry. In less than two years, she has worked with movie stars such as George Clooney and Danny Devito, among others.
Since 2014, Gemma resides in Los Angeles, coming back to Spain every time she can even for work or leisure.

Hi Gemma please tell us a little about you?
I’m a Spanish actress who moved to Los Angeles three years ago to follow my dream.
How did you get involved in acting?
I’ve been always on a stage or in front of a camera dancing. I became a professional dancer at the age of 16. Four years later I moved to Madrid to keep growing as a dancer and begin my arts dramatics studies. Somehow when you’re dancing you are acting aswell.
When did you first know you wanted to become an actress?
I had the chance to be part of the cast of a tvshow before leaving my city. I fell in love with acting, and from that moment I knew that I wanted to be doing it my whole life.
How do you prepare for a role?
First of all I always learn the lines without intentions. When I know them by heart, it’s when I begin choosing how Gemma would be, being that character in those situations. I always ask for help to my actors friends or coaches. Sometimes actors have bad habits that only someone from the outside can see it.
How do they memorize so many lines?
I’ve been always a good memorizer. In high school I used to learn everything by heart.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Honest, positive,brave.
Who is your favorite Actor/Actress? And why?
I would say Meryl Streep, I think there is no one like her. She shows in every character some of herself, at the same time that makes an immersion into another personality. Also the work she does with her voice is unbelievable.

Tell us about how was working with big names like George Clooney and Danny Devito?
The experience was amazing, since the first moment I felt so comfortable working with them. Beside their obvious talente as movie stars, both of them are very nice and down to earth. It was a pleasure having the chance of meeting them and sharing the screen with such a iconic actors.
How was the casting for the comercial?
I had to pretend I was teaching to dance tango, and then I had to do a solo for 30 seconds. In the callback, I did the same and also they asked me for some tango steps and turns.
How did you got selected for the role?
I did the audition, then I had to come for the callback. Two days after my agent called me telling me I was “on avail”. It was three days later when I got booked. My agent was so excited giving me the news about the commercial.
So you are a professional dancer too, please tell us about it?
I’ve been dancing since I was 2 years old. At the age of 12 I started with ball room competitions. I needed to feel more challenge, so I began dancing by my self. When I was 16 years old, I got my first job as a professional dancer.
