She recently closed a long-time chapter of working the last 12 years on the hit show “The Price is Right.” Forever grateful to the show that has helped her leap into the homes and hearts of so many, Gwendolyn is excited to dive full force into her new role as COO at Smith Entertainment Group, a production company she runs alongside husband and Emmy Award winning broadcaster/former NBA player Kenny Smith.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”24373″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Please tell us a little about you.
I was born in Bath, England. My father is British and my mum is Jamaican. I recently wrapped my 12th season on The Price Is Right. I’m currently transitioning to my new role as COO of Smith Entertainment Group.

What was your first acting role?
A show called Ocean Avenue. It was shot in Miami and my first role as a regular on a show.
What is the best and worst part of being an actor?
The best part is being able to express life through art. The worst part is having to portray vulnerable situations.
Best advice ever given?
Continue to believe and work on your talents during the quiet times.
Tell us about your position as COO of Smith Entertainment Group and what the group projects are?
I oversee the company’s projects and make sure that everything runs smoothly. I ensure the CEO’s vision is understood. My favorite part is being creative and creating new projects as well as hearing other people’s vision and being able to help put their ideas into effect.
How is working along your husband Emmy Award winning, broadcaster/former NBA player Kenny Smith?
It’s something that I’ve always done. We’ve worked together for quite a while whether it’s managing a household of 5 children or business wise. We respect each other’s visions and differing creative processes.
How does Kenny support you in your projects and professional life?
He is a good listener. I run a lot of ideas and projects by him for his feedback. It’s always great to have another perspective.
Now tell us about your first album- Do you have any singles recorded already?
I don’t have a completed album. I have songs from different points I’ve recorded in my life. I hope to one day organize it into an album and share it.
What kind of music style is your album and do you have any musical influences?
Neo soul. My musical influences are Etta James, Mariah Carey’s first 2 albums, Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder.
Who is your favorite Actor/Actress? And why?
Meryl Streep. I had to study her in college and she is constantly growing and stretching as an actress. I really respect that. I love Viola Davis also. She has worked hard for an extremely long time and I’m so happy to see her getting her shine now.
Name 3 things you can’t leave your house without.
Lip balm, a hair band, and credit card
What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?
Staying in pjs and watching movies with my kids all day!
How’s a normal day in your life?
Morning starts off with the school routine with the kids. I drop them off and head to meetings at the office. I try to squeeze in some type of exercise and having a good laugh about something throughout the day. Every day included singing in my car!!!
What is your favorite healthy food?
Does anyone have a favorite healthy food??
And your favorite cheat food?
French fries are my weakness. Fat ones, skinny ones…I’m not prejudiced.
