Check out our interview with Actor, Musician & Voice-over Actor Cody Key.
Cody followed his parents into the entertainment industry at the young age of 5 years old. His father was an actor and his mother a costume designer so naturally Cody loved dressing in costumes and would sing and dance for anyone who would watch.
His big break came in his recurring role on the NETFLIX series NO GOOD NICK starring SEAN ASTIN and MELISSA JOAN HART. Now this teen INFLUENCER can be seen in the NAYIP RAMOS film KEEP MOVING alongside other Social Media Influencers such as HAYDEN SUMMERALL and BAILEY SOK. Cody’s charismatic personality shines in commercials for YUBO and TOTAL INSIGHT which showcases future Hall of Famer PATRICK MAHOMES. Not content to be just an INFLUENCER, Cody is also an ACTOR, MUSICIAN, and VOICE OVER ARTIST.
He is passionate about bringing awareness to the LGBTQ community and strongly supports children’s charities such as SPECIAL OLYMPICS or those that help children beat cancer or homelessness. When not on set or studying his craft, Cody studies American Sign Language and practices Archery. A typical Southern California teen, he enjoys skateboarding, rollerblading, hiking and playing video games.

Hi Cody, please tell us a little about you?
I am a typical teen. I love acting, video games and hanging with friends.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
I am honest, outgoing and real.
How did you get started into acting?
I was always dressing in costumes as a kid, always putting on a show. My family decided when I was around 4 to get me an agent and my love for acting grew from there.
How has this changed your life?
This has changed my life in many ways. I am able to do what I love and meet new people. I am very blessed to have my dreams be a reality
What is the best and worst part of being an actor?
The best part of acting is being on set, doing your craft, meeting new people and just having new experiences. The worst part is sometimes you have a bunch of auditions before you book a role and it can be disappointing.
How do you prepare for a role?
I always try and read the script to get a feel of who the character is and try to play it as real as possible.
Tell us about your work on NETFLIX series “NO GOOD NICK?”
What an amazing experience. Working on set with such amazingly talented people was a blessing.
And about your work in NAYIP RAMOS film “KEEP MOVING?”
Nayip Ramos is so incredibly talented and his vision for scenes is so creative. He is by far one of the most talented directors Ive met.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
Id love to play a dark role like in a horror movie. I think it would be fun to play something so completely opposite of who I am. I also would like to play a role that is impactful that gets people thinking.
What other projects you have been part of?
I just recently finished two videos for Dhar Mann Studios. The work at Dhar Mann is insightful and always has a message.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Being able to bring a character to live.
What’s your advice for the newer actors/actresses?
Never give up. Its hard to stay positive sometimes with the no’s from some auditions but there will be a yes and those are AMAZING.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this
business?
To always stay humble and kind.
How would your best friend describe you?
Outgoing, supportive and caring
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Everything you need to know you learned in kindergarten
What’s next for Cody Key in 2021?
I am working on booking a big role in a feature.
What is your favorite healthy food?
MY favorite healthy food is Edamame.
And your favorite cheat food?
Goldfish crackers are my addition.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I like to be kinda preppy but edgy.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Being true to who you are.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Robert Downey Jr. He is my inspiration both on and off screen
Best advice ever given?
When one door closes another opens. Don’t ever let someone else define you success or who you are.
Do you support any charity?
I support St Jude and I am also very active in the deaf community.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I am hoping to still be successful and be able to continue what I love. I do plan to go to college as a backup.
Favorite song? Why?
I love so many songs its hard to pick. But I like songs that inspire and give hope and positivity
What do you think of Social Media?
Social media can be a blessing and a curse. If it was used for good and truth it would be perfect but some aspects are dark and scary especially online bullying and fake news. I try to use social media as a place to give back to my fans.
