Hi AINA, please tell us a little about you?
Hi! I’m AINA. I’m a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. I was born and raised in California and making music is my favorite thing to do.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Fun, fresh, and timeless.
Why did you choose to make music?
I started making music because I was writing so many songs. I didn’t want to share any but one day, I took a chance and I have just been loving it ever since.
Do you play any instruments?
I do! I play the piano.
Do you ever get nervous?
I’m always nervous! Whenever I’m about to perform is when I’m the most nervous even though performing is one of my favorite things to do.
Tell us about your new single “Hauntd”?
“Hauntd” is a fun song that can really be interpreted in many different ways. It’s a great song to listen to at parties or simply at home alone.
What’s the story behind the song?
Well, it’s a funny story. I wrote this song in the shower. Since I didn’t have a pen or paper with me, I kept singing the song in my head over and over again and quickly ran to my journal to write it all after I finished showering.
Any new songs coming out this year?
Yes, I’m extremely excited! I’m planning on releasing a new song almost every month this year. One is a collab! Stay tuned!
How did you come up with the cover art for “Hauntd”?
I knew that I wanted to draw it and since the beginning I imagined a girl and a ghost next to her. I started drawing and eventually came up with the rest. I recently posted a behind the scenes YouTube video showing the entire process. YouTube: AINA_
What inspired you to release a sped up and slowed down version of your songs?
I listen to a lot of music and began noticing the cute and fun sounding sped up versions of many songs and the cool and edgy slowed down versions. So, I went to my computer and tried a bunch of things to slow down and speed up my songs exactly to the way I wanted them.
Which 3 artists are you listening to the most?
I’ve recently been listening to a lot of SZA, Lady Gaga, and New Jeans.

You’re called “lil princess” a lot, where did this nickname come from?
I’m not exactly sure. One day, a lot of people started calling me “lil princess” on my social media.
How often do you write a song?
It always changes. Sometimes I write one song a day, sometimes two, sometimes even eight! Though usually, I write at least one song a day.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I think my fashion style is classy and chic with a bit of a twist.
Any upcoming performances?
Yes, I recently played at Whiskey a Go Go, I’m going to be playing at Hotel Cafe in August, and I have more upcoming performances in LA and Northern California.
When is your favorite time of day to create?
All day and anytime! I try not to create too late at night but sometimes, I just can’t help it.
How often do you listen to music?
I listen to music everyday. I often listen to music while getting ready for the day, exercising, and getting ready for bed.
Do you enjoy live music?
I do! I especially love playing live music!
What is you favorite part of your latest song?
I don’t have a favorite part. All the parts are too dear to me to choose.
