Check out our interview with talented young actor Jordan Preston Carter who can be seen in Ava Duvernay’s DMZ, an HBO Max limited series based on the DC comic series, starring Rosario Dawson and Benjamin Bratt, premiering tomorrow March 17th. He will next star in New Line’s adaptation of Stephen King’s best-selling novel, Salem’s Lot, set to premiere on September 9th. In the film, he stars as ‘Mark Petrie’, a 12-year old boy who becomes a key member of the group of kids battling an evil force. Jordan is best known for his role as Tika Sumpter’s son in Tyler Perry and OWN’s drama series, “The Haves and the Have Nots”. Jordan currently resides in Atlanta.

Hi Jordan, please tell us a little about you?
Hi I’m 13years old and soon to be 14 in July on the 31st. I love acting and I started in my profession when I was only 4 years old. I am a huge Gamer and in my spare time I love to read.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Compassionate, Loyal, Driven
How did you get started into acting?
I got started acting when I was 4 years old I was signed to an agency and started doing commercials and some print work which eventually lead into bigger opportunities.
How has this changed your life?
It changed my life in so many ways I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing people and just learning the business and enhancing my craft every day has been an awesome learning tool for me.
What is the best and worst part of being an actor?
The best part is meeting other well-known actors that you look up to and getting the chance to work with them and learning how to better my craft as an Entertainer.
The worst part is switching between school and set mode being on set filming can sometimes be a little stressful when you have a lot going on with your school assignments.
How do you prepare for a role?
I prepare by always reading the entire script and trying to get as much information about the character that I will portray learning everything about the scenes and the project really helps me to jump into the role more comfortably.
Tell us about your work on HBO Max limited series” Ava Duvernay’s DMZ?”
My character I play is Odi Peerlis he is a loner who is longing for a family of some sorts and finds a motherly figure in Rosario Dawson. He lives in this demilitarized zone where in this world there is no way out so he learns to cope with the circumstances that he is dealt with on a daily basis.
And about your work on in New Line’s adaptation of Stephen King’s best-selling novel “Salem’s Lot?”
My character I play is Mark Petrie which is one of the leads in the movie. I am a vampire slayer with along with Ben Meyers played by Lewis Pullman we both set out together and try to rid the town of the vampires especially the head vampire Barlow.
What other projects you have been part of?
I have worked with Tyler Perry on The Haves and the have nots as Quincy Jr. I have worked with Mary J Blige in the movie “The Violent Heart” as Young Daniel. I have had the pleasure of working with Samuel L. Jackson on two occasions, “Shaft” and the movie ”The Last Full Measure” and a host of other things.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I like to play the more dramatic serious roles. I just feel like these roles are more of my comfort zone.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Meeting new people and being challenged to bring my craft to its full potential.
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
Stay true to what is most comfortable for you.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you have learned so far in this business?
Staying HUMBLE!!!
How would your best friend describe you?
Very quiet, outgoing when the situation calls for it, laid back and always willing to learn.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Never under estimate the powers that be. And the reason why I say that is I’m really laid back and super quiet sometimes super shy around individuals but when it comes to performing in front of lots of people I’m in my comfort zone.

What’s next for Jordan Preston Carter in 2022?
I have other projects coming out just waiting on the green light to talk about them but please stay tuned lots of great things are happening right now!
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love baked chicken.

Pizza
What is your own definition of happiness?
Learning to appreciate the little things in life!
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would have loved to have meet Stan Lee because he was the creator of Marvel and I am a huge Spider man fan and I love all things Marvel Universe.
Best advice ever given?
Always give 100% and you will never have any regrets!
Do you support any charity?
I support ASPCA and also I am a firm advocate for homelessness.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I see myself just getting better at my craft and taking on more challenging roles and taking my acting to higher levels. So whatever that looks like I’m here for it the sky is the limit.
Favorite song? Why?
My favorite song is by Aretha Franklin “Ain’t No Way.” Because the lyrics just say it all if you just listen what she is saying you can relate.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think it can be a good and bad thing it has the ability to make you feel like you are on top of the mountain and at the same time it will bring you down to where you are questioning everything.
