London born Samuel Jack brings a fresh and distinct sound through his passionate, storytelling lyrics and velvet vocals, resulting in a completely compelling delivery. Growing up in Johannesburg with his film director Father, Jack spent much of his time soaking in the vibrant tones of Blues, Motown, soul and roots music, which to this date play a big role in his songwriting. Combining the music of his childhood, with his new love for hip hop and pop, the soulful artist has established his own unique style which has been piquing the interest of listeners across the globe.
His new album “Empty Pockets, Crowded Heart Vol.1,” the five-track release narrates the emotions and feelings of the singer’s journey thus far and is a beautiful reflection of his personality, representing his diversity of musical influences, from old school soul, to hip hop and blues.

Passionate. Soulful. Singer.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
Two groups of people; my management for quite literally plucking me out of nowhere and giving me a opportunity – and my friends, who I couldn’t get by without
How did you get started in the business?
By continually harassing far more successful people than me and constantly sending them my songs
Did you go to music school?
I didn’t, I was a late starter in the grand scheme of things, only teaching myself piano in my late teens.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Big. Soulful. Stories.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I’ve always used music as therapy to be honest, it’s been like medication to me over the years and I was always influenced by the soul greats like Sam Cooke, by Motown, hip hop and pop.
Do you ever get nervous?
Yes, all the time. But good nerves.
What is your next goal as a musician?
To reach bigger audiences and to tour even more, gotta get my latest album

Now tell us about your new album “Empty Pockets, Crowded Heart Vol.1?”
It’s the first of three volumes that make up my debut album. All the songs are deeply personal to me and are an ode to the journey I’ve Been on this far – the adventures, the love, the loss, all the highs and all the lows.
And about the success of your single “Gonna Be Alright?”
the song was written about my struggles with mental health issues, it’s a song about recovery from that – but what with the current global crisis it seems to have resonated in a much broader sense – sometimes we all need to hear that it’s ‘gonna be alright’ especially right now…
Do you have a tour coming up or where we can see you performing?
Right now all dates are on hold due to our world situation, But I’ll be announcing dates ASAP
What we can expect of Samuel Jack in 2020?
Volumes 2 and 3 to the album are on their way, bags of content and as soon as I physically can I’ll Be on the road again.
Name one your strengths?
Honesty.
What is your own definition of happiness?
A little house in the countryside with some space to record music, plenty of red wine, summer nights and open fires.
Any loves other than music?
Football, I’m a die hard football fan. That and comedy, food, hugs.
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Oooh good one. ‘I’m goin down’ Mary J blidge.
Any exciting news you want to share with us?
I got dressed before 3pm today.
How’s a typical day in your life?
Well, back when we were allowed out a normal day for me pivots alley around music. Writing, recording, playing live, building content online – man, I can’t wait til we move past all this.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Long walk, then Etta James on the record player, and a classic Sunday roast.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Purple sprouting broccoli.
And your favorite cheat food?
Bacon sarnie.
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
The inability to see past material possessions.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Prince. I’d have loved to have picked his brains about his songs.
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Exactly like today, but hopefully with a family, and a home.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Not very well thought about.
What do you think of Social Media?
It’s a amazing and essential way to stay connected to you audience but if I wasn’t a musician I’m not sure I’d be too bothered about it.
