I am 20 years old, I’m from Rockwood Ontario. I’d rather look at the glass half full.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Positive, Passionate, Chill.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
My friends. Ive always had a very close group of friends and they’ve impacted me in a very positive way because they are all great people. I’m very blessed to have grown up with people I can trust and count on.
How did you get started in the business?
I released my first single when I was 16 called “Where Do We Go” and I’d say that got me started. I went to Canadian music week that year to get educated and see what the music industry was all about.
Did you go to music school?
After high school I spent a year at Metal Works Institute for a Vocal Performance Major. Metal Works is one of Canada’s largest and most famous studios, so it was a very inspiring experience.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
My music is similar to me so I’d say: Positive, Chill, and Self-Reflective
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Rock and Roll was a huge influence to me, but my music teachers from my younger years got me inspired to create music and pursue it. I loved making music because it gave me a chance to express things in a song that I probably wouldn’t have been comfortable enough to express in a conversation.
Do you ever get nervous?
I used to get really nervous before going on stage and performing. I’ve gotten much better at handling my anxiety but it still comes around when I feel like I’m not prepared for something.
What is your next goal as a musician?
My next goal is to release my Album and go on tour with it to grow a nation wide fan base.
Do you have a tour coming up or where we can see you performing?
No tour as of yet, but I will be showcasing my new Single and Album at Midem in Cannes, France at the beginning of June.
Now tell us about your new single “I Want Your Love?”
My Single, “I Want Your Love” is about a fantasy love at first sight experience. It’s about the moment you lock eyes with someone and what happens after that! We were having a party in the studio when the song was born. It happened as a result of having a good time.
What inspires you to create new music?
Songs are always inspired by different things, but most of the time, I get inspired by moments in my life where I feel like other people would relate to the way I’m feeling. So I won’t necessarily write about my experience it’s self but ill take inspiration and draw emotion from it.
Where can we see you playing next?
My next performance is at Midem in Cannes, France either the 5th or 6th of June.
What we can expect of Wes Mason in 2019?
I am planning to release at least 2 more singles this year before dropping the full length Album. During that time I will be promoting these singles on TV, Radio, Magazine, and through live shows to build as much buzz as possible for the upcoming Album!
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Thats a hard one but probably Champagne Supernova by Oasis.
Name one your strengths?
I would say other than making music, one of my strengths is hook writing.
What is your own definition of happiness?
To be happy, is to live a life where you have achieved things, but to know there is always more to achieve. To be unhappy is to feel a lack of purpose.
Any loves other than music?
I love downhill skiing and downhill mountain biking. I also love food, wine, and my dachshund dogs.
Any exiting news you want to share with us?
Other than the recent release of my single! I have the Official Music Video dropping at the beginning of June.
How’s a typical day in your life?
A chill day off would be: Wake up, try to get some exercise, do whatever work needs to get done, and have a moment to be creative. Most likely rewatch Family Guy episodes.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Honestly, to relax and make sure I am ready for Monday! Spend some time with family or friends and reflect.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Avocado
And your favorite cheat food?
Pizza & hot wings
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
Ability to have deep conversation about life. Small talk is boring.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
John Lennon, because I want to talk to him about everything. He was a true artist.
Do you support any charities?
I do support Amnesty International and World Vision, among others.
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Touring the planet with multiple hit songs! In 5 years I see myself in front of millions of people sharing my music with the world.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I like to wear things that have an edgy vibe but with positive messages.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think social media brings the world much closer together which can be a good thing as well as a bad thing. We see more, but do we see more truth or do we see more lies?
