Hi JESSIA! Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi! I’m JESSIA and I’m an artist, singer, and songwriter from Vancouver, Canada!
How would you describe your sound in 3 words?
Conversational, organic, and honest.
Who influenced you to start making music?
I grew up in a musical household so music has always been a part of who I am. When it comes to influences, I’m inspired by artists like Sia, Jessie J, and Julia Michaels.
Do you play any instruments?
I pretend to play the piano and guitar. Fake it till you make it!
Tell us about your new single, “One Before The One.” What’s the story behind the song?
It’s about being the “stepping stone” partner. The one that teaches their ex all their lessons before they go and find their forever person.
Now tell us about the experience of working with OneRepublic on tour. That’s amazing!
It was incredible! They are honestly the sweetest guys ever and I can’t thank them enough for having me. Touring Asia with OneRepublic was one of the best experiences of my life!
What is the most rewarding thing about being an artist?
Hearing fans’ stories and how your thoughts and songs have changed their life for the better. I will never get tired of reading my DMs from fans. I love you all so much!!
What advice would you give to your younger self, and why?
Ask for what you want. The worst thing they can say is no. and learn how to actually play piano!! It’s really going to help your songwriting!
How would your best friend describe you?
Indecisive (literally can never decide what to wear or what to eat), loyal, and inspiring.
If you were a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
It would be called “What I’m Not” and I can’t explain it yet!
What’s next for JESSIA in 2024?
NEW MUSIC!!! I’m so excited to share my new project! I want you all to be screaming along to it in your car!
What is your favorite healthy food?
I really like most healthy foods! If I had to pick though, I’d say sushi. I could live on sushi!
And your favorite cheat food?
Ice cream. Peanut butter & chocolate… Name a better duo, I’ll wait!
How would you describe your fashion style?
Casual chic? I’m not really sure! I love oversized things.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Being able to travel and hearing people’s stories from around the world. Human connection is happiness. Im extremely extroverted haha
If you could meet someone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
I really wanna go for a beer with Miley Cyrus
What would be your dream vacation and who would you go with?
I really want to go on a cruise to Antarctica! I want to visit all seven continents before I die!
Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Be weirder. Fitting in isn’t what got you to where you are now.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years?
Playing sold out shows across North America, releasing SO much music, constantly challenging myself with my songwriting, and maybe a Grammy Award?
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car or at karaoke?
Probably “Complicated” but Avril Lavigne
