What would you say are the greatest lesson(s) you learned so far?
Say yes to the present moment. when we say yes, anything is possible. It’s when we say no out of fear that we shut off the sunlight of the spirit. keep your heart open and allow the love in. No matter what!
How would your best friend describe you?
Goofy and wise. I’ve heard my whole life “you’re so wise for your age” I feel like I learned the power of listening from a young age and how helpful it was to others as we all just want to be heard and validated. also, if there is music I WILL DANCE.
What’s next for Manon Mathews in 2021?
Spending time with the love of my life of course! – my dog Russell. He came into my life after a heart wrenching breakup. He’s my angel…oh yeah and content creating as I love what I do. I’ll be going back to events, as I’ve missed seeing the smiles on people’s faces and hoping to give lots of hugs! I’ll be doing season two of my podcast SERIOUS BUTT FUNNY. as well as working on some film/tv projects! Anything to do with film, I’m IN.
Now tell us about the huge TikTok success and what are you doing to keep it going and growing even more?
I create consistently. I love TikTok. I don’t worry about the numbers, and I keep focused on the creation. I do some of the trends but really if you saw my page, you’d see an array of videos from impressions to dances to me talking to myself in different accents. it reminds me of the vine days where you would just shoot and post. I love the immediacy of it all!
What do you think is the secret to have a successful TikTok/Instagram account?
Consistency and saying yes to your content. Collaborating (which I haven’t done yet).
You are followed by so many people. How do you feel about that pressure of doing always the right thing, and encourage people to follow their dreams?
Depends on the plat form. TikTok feels freer than Instagram and Facebook, but I love them all and I LOVE making videos. I always have. Some content won’t be for everyone but i have to trust my gut and instincts because it’s what got them to follow me in the first place. once I start trying to make videos to please others I think something gets lost. it’s important to make yourself laugh first. if you can do that, chances are you’ll make someone else giggle. I love to share giggles.
I bet you get millions of it, but what are the best and worst Instagram DM pickup lines you received so far?
Worst is a dick pic. Please no more, thank you. Best is “you’ve helped me so much during a dark time, thank you for being you…I’d love to take you to coffee just to say thank you.” Does that count? Sometimes a guy will just send me a selfie and I’m like. “What do you want me to do with that?” I love a good man in his masculine who is ready to lead and makes a whole plan for me!
Rapid-Fire Questions:
What is your favorite healthy food?
Manana Pannies (banana pancakes) 2 eggs, 1 banana blended and that’s it!
And your favorite cheat food?
Cheese pizza and Carrot cake!
What is your own definition of happiness?
Being in total gratitude for what I DO have, when I’m present with that, nothing can bring me down.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Robin Williams, Marilyn Monroe and my father’s parents. Robin Williams, because duh, he was my favorite comedian, and he really made an impact in so many of our lives. Omg I just remembered I DID MEET HIM 6 months before he passed and forced a hug. Marilyn Monroe because she seems darling, and I bet I would drool all over her. And my grandparents because I heard they were amazing.
Best advice ever given?
Take nothing personally. Everyone is projecting their inner state outward. Their behavior really has nothing to do with you. When I learned that I felt FREE
