Hi Bailey, please tell us a little about you?
I like putting melodies to my thoughts, and I have been playing in dive bars since I was 11. I grew up on a farm, I love animals, and I sing all the time.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Spontaneous, outgoing, and creative
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
My mom, because I begged her to take me to Nashville when I was 12 after seeing Shania Twain say on a documentary that she was discovered there. So my momma started driving me back and forth on the weekends, when I was in middle school. I vividly remember waking up from naps in the backseat of her suburban to the sound of her telling all of her friends on the phone how much she believed in me. That meant the world to me to have so much support from her and it still does. Those trips defined my work ethic and I’m thankful for that.
When and why did you start creating music?
I started officially writing songs when I was 16 and I haven’t stopped. I fell in love with the process and just couldn’t imagine not doing it. My first songs were mostly about one guy who I had a huge crush on, and later writing helped me deal with my first taste of rejection and heartbreak and heal, and it still does that for me.
What’s the backstory there?
Music has always been a part of me. I remember “writing” my first song in my crib. It went, “mommy I love you mommy come get me,” on repeat. I guess I knew at a young age that crying would only get me so far (laughs). For me, it’s putting my thoughts and feelings to a melody that really gets the job done in regards to healing.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Soulful, emotionally-driven
Tell us about your new single “Dust On A Diamond,” where did the inspiration come from?
I lost a guy and in turn lost myself. I had never been the girl who cared too much about what people thought, and suddenly I felt the self-doubt creep in and take over. It was not a great place to be in. Thankfully, I’m not there anymore. It just took the right song to help me get out of that place.
What is your next goal as a musician?
I would love to hit 1 million streams on one streaming platform for a song within the first month of release.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/or karaoke?
Lately “I Hope,” by Gabby Barrett. That song is a jam and a half. Love turning it up all the way.
Idea of a perfect day in quarantine?
Can I imagine anything??? If so, can I be married to Liam Hemsworth and quarantined with him!! (Laughs) In my current situation, an ideal day is a walk or a hike, riding my horse with my mom on the trail at their farm, writing a song over zoom, spending some time with my dad and having dinner as a family since almost all 6 of us are on the farm and that rarely happens these days.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I would love to be playing stadiums and pulling a horse trailer in my own truck behind the tour bus so I can hit a barrel race every now and then on tour.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I have been through a couple Boho phases in this lifetime, but if I had to put words to my current style I’d say, cool and fashion forward. I do love a good pair of jeans. My go-to lately has been high-waisted jeans with a silk lace cami and my Golden Goose Deluxe Brand sneakers that are covered in silver glitter (I got on an amazing sale and have worn them out). I love that look for trips when I have limited packing space and several different shows and/or radio station visits, because I can change the jacket and top and wear the same shoes and jeans a couple times (or maybe 3 times who’s counting?)
What we can expect of Bailey Hefley in 2020?
I am putting out my first album, and will be playing live shows as soon as the quarantine is over. In the meantime you can follow me on my socials to see me live on there. I absolutely love meeting people on my accounts. It makes my heart so happy.
Where can we follow you?
I would love to connect with you!! Please follow me and slide into my dms 😉
