Hi Alondra, please tell us a little about you?
Hello everyone. I’m Alondra Delgado. I’m an actress, writer, and producer. I am originally from Puerto Rico and moved to Los Angeles five years ago to continue my acting career. I started when I was seven years old. I am very passionate about doing what I love, and I’m just enjoying my journey through Hollywood!
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Strong, Talented, and Perseverant.
How did you get started into acting?
It all started when I was two and a half years old, I would stand in front of the television and tell my mom I wanted to be in there. She thought it was nonsense at first but then proceeded to put me with a Talent Agency. I started acting when I was four years old doing theater and then did my first feature film when I was seven
How has this changed your life?
Acting helps me understand people more. Having the opportunity to wear someone else’s shoes while creating a character helps you understand people that are going through those things in real life. You get to play characters that are different from you and have different lives and circumstances. You learn from them and grow with each character you portray.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
The best part is that you get to touch people’s souls. Sometimes you sit down to watch a movie where you laugh and cry. You learn from the characters and their mistakes which is very fulfilling. I guess the worst part would be that sometimes you get too attached to the characters. You also have to live with the critics and not everyone liking you or your work. So you have to understand and accept that.
Tell us about your work in the CW football drama “All American?”
“All American” has been a great experience. It was a bit intimidating at first to come into the third season of such a popular show, but everyone was very welcoming. It has been fun, and I feel proud of the work that I have done so far.
And about your role as Vanessa Montes?
Vanessa is the new girl, so everyone has something to say about her. She is very confident and knows what she wants. She wants to enjoy high school and make some friends but being the new girl has pressure and expectations.
What we can expect from Season 3?
The third season is fun, has some drama, and many secrets involving everyone’s favorite characters. People will be surprised and very invested in the story.
How do you prepare for a role?
I always read the script multiple times to understand my character. I learn her backstory and if there isn’t one then I create one to give my character more depth. I study her relationships with everyone in the story. I practice it a few times with different people to have a different take on it and when it is time to film I think about the moment before that has brought my character to say the words she’s about to say.
What other projects you have been part of?
I’ve been part of “Mayans MC,” and “Vida” on Starz. I also have a couple of films that are in post-production called “Aimee” and “Safe House,” where I am the lead. I’m excited for everyone to see them.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I love to play strong dramatic roles with a lot of depth. I like to play roles that challenge me and are the opposite of who I am.
Do you ever get nervous?
For sure, I do. The first take is always practice and once I’m comfortable I can focus a bit more and then enjoy the process.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Honestly, for me it is making my family proud. Every project that I book they get so excited and it is very rewarding to share my success with them as they have been rooting for me since I was a little girl.
How would your best friend describe you?
She would say I am trustworthy, talented, a great listener, and stubborn.
What’s next for Alondra Delgado in 2021?
I still have a couple of projects that are in post-production that I’m excited for them to come out. Hopefully, 2021 brings more opportunities and I can get another leading role in a feature film or perhaps a series regular role.
What is your favorite healthy food?
A chicken salad with Italian Dressing, I’m not sure if Acai is super healthy, but I LOVE Acai bowls as well.
And your favorite cheat food?
There are so many! But I love pizza and ice cream.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I would say I have two styles. I can dress fancy or with swag. I can wear high waist skinny jeans with a crop top and heels or sweatpants with some Jordan Retros. It depends on the day.
What is your own definition of happiness?
I think happiness is being content with where you are in life. Being successful and being true to yourself surrounded by the people you love. If you are real and honest and are fighting for what you want, you’ll be happy in my opinion.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Meryl Streep as I’ve been watching and admiring her since I was little. I’ve learned so much from her and it would be an honor to meet her.
Best advice ever given?
To do things instead of overthinking and think outside of my box. I feel that I overthink every little thing and lately, I’ve been taking risks a bit more. If it works out great, if it doesn’t at least I tried. It has helped me a lot.
Do you support any charity?
Ever since I was seven years old when I got paid for any project I did, my mom and I would go donate to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Puerto Rico. That is something she taught me that I am grateful for. Lately, since Hurricane Maria happened in Puerto Rico, I’ve been supporting their Hurricane Relief Funds.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
In five years from now, I want to be a series regular on a show and have been featured as a lead in some major feature films. I would also to write at least one feature film that I wrote. I want to be successful doing what I love.
Favorite song? Why?
“Con la Cara en Alto” by Reik. It is a beautiful breakup song about a couple who have lived beautiful moments and will always love each other, but it is time to grow apart. I am a bit dramatic so I love it. They also my favorite band.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think social media is a great way to network and connect with many people but not to the extreme where people stop enjoying a social life.
