Hi Landon, please tell us a little about you?
Hi! I think I’d describe myself as your average teen who has had some extraordinary experiences. I’m the middle kid in my family with an older and younger brother. I spend my free time talking to and hanging with friends. I love to travel and am always up for an adventure.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Funny, Creative, Energetic.
How did you get started into acting?
Being born and raised in Los Angeles, you meet actors all the time. My friend in elementary school missed a day for a commercial. Missing school sounded fun, so I told my mom I also wanted to try acting. I didn’t know a single thing about what that meant. But I auditioned for my agent and loved the experience of learning lines and performing. My first job was on “Conan” and it was that moment when I walked out on stage and saw the audience that I knew acting was what I wanted to do.
How has this changed your life?
Well for one, I’ve met some amazing people I wouldn’t have otherwise met. My best friend is Maddy McGraw, my twin on “Secrets of Sulphur Springs”. I can’t imagine not having her in my life. Also, I’ve been able to travel to interesting places, meet interesting locals, try interesting food – all because of the opportunities I’ve had acting.
What is the best and worst part of being an actor?
The best part is working with a team of talented people who all hold such an important role in making a show or film come together. You really become a family while filming. Which is why the worst part is when a show wraps and you have to say goodbye. The cast and crew for “Secrets of Sulphur Springs” lives all over the US which makes it hard to see everyone in between seasons.
How do you prepare for a role?
I just try to imagine myself as that character. I take the time to feel what they would feel in those moments written in the script.
Tell us about your work in Disney’s “Secrets of Sulphur Springs?”
“Secrets of Sulphur Springs” has been a dream job. I love mysteries and thrillers and I love Disney. Being a part of a show that is both is the best. Working in New Orleans is also very special. New Orleans has such a different culture and environment from Los Angeles.
And about your role as Wyatt?
I play Wyatt, one half of the twins in the show. Wyatt is a little bit of the comic relief and usually has something funny to say. He, like me, is totally down for an adventure even if it might be a little scary.
What other projects you have been part of?
Everyone usually asks me about being in “Top Gun: Maverick”. Working with Tom Cruise was incredible. Honestly, I didn’t really know who he was when I booked the job. But his professionalism, his dedication, his kindness was something that was very impactful to me. I learned a lot from my brief time on set with him. Every project I’ve worked on has been special in its own way. I’m very thankful for the career I’ve had so far.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I really enjoy horror films and although I haven’t booked a horror movie yet, I hope to do so someday. I find I enjoy roles that have some grit to them.
If you weren’t famous, what would you be up to right now?
I’d be attending my local middle school and would be on a baseball team. My family is big into baseball.
Which fictional character would be the most exciting to meet in real life?
Ethan Hunt from from “Mission Impossible”.
Can you name 3 actors/actresses you would love to work with?
Leonardo DiCaprio, Joaquin Phoenix, Brad Pitt.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Seeing it all come together on the big screen and meeting fans who have enjoyed watching my shows and movies.
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
It’s a marathon, not a race! I treat each audition like it’s a job. The audition is my opportunity to practice and improve my skills as an actor. As long as I am proud of my work, it’s ok if I don’t hear back or book the role. There are so many out-of-our-control reasons why an actor doesn’t book a role, if I’m putting my best work forward, the right role will eventually come my way.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
Patience. This industry requires an incredible amount of patience. Patience after submitting an audition, patience on set, patience waiting to see the final product.
How would your best friend describe you?
Funny for sure. Maybe a little crazy at times. Loyal.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Adventure is at Stake.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Talk to me in 10 years. I’m still figuring it all out.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Haha! I’ll let you know when I become an entrepreneur.
What’s next for Landon Gordon in 2023?
“Secrets of Sulphur Springs” Season 3 and who knows? Hopefully some new fun projects.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Sliced apples and peanut butter.
And your favorite cheat food?
Cheeseburger and fries.
What is your own definition of happiness?
The ability to enjoy the smallest of things, like a beautiful sunset.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Michael Jackson because his music is the best. He was an incredible artist.
Best advice ever given?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Life moves on.
Do you support any charity?
Heal the Bay.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Hopefully starting to write my own scripts and continuing to act in television and film.
Favorite song? Why?
That would be way too hard to narrow down. I have a very eclectic taste in music, my favorites song depends on the day.
What do you think of Social Media?
It’s fun! It’s a great way to stay connected with my friends who don’t live near me. But it’s a little time consuming.
