Describe yourself in 3 words?
Ambitious
Passionate
Sincere
Who is your role model?
My mom. Not only is she an amazing mom and friend. She is truly the most hardworking person I know. I owe everything I am to her. I am eternally grateful for her.
You started in the very popular Dance Moms tv show. Do you still dance?
Yes, dance will always be a part of my life and I will probably be dancing when I am 80 years old haha!
Any advice for aspiring dancers?
Always be the hardest working person in the room.
What do you love most about dancing?
I think what I love most about dance is the way it makes me feel so empowered. I feel like dance is my superpower and when I am dancing I feel like I could do anything.
What type of dance do you like best?
While I am not super picky and I really do enjoy all styles of dance, I would have to say my favorite is lyrical.
Now tell us about your new book “The Crest?”
My book is a young adult sci-fi drama. It centers around a group of teens who live on the wealthy and powerful Mercer Island. There is everything from love triangles to a blend of the supernatural world and reality or deception and corruption of the elite and wealthy to societal struggles of teenagers.
Why and when did you decide to write about the topic of the book?
As cheesy as it sounds, I actually had a dream about the plot of my book! It was about 4 years ago that I had this dream and the story has been evolving ever since. I am a screenwriter as well, so my book originally started as an 8 episode TV series that has now evolved into a novel.
Where we can buy it?
You can pre-order the book on Amazon, Amazon Kindle, and Barnes & Noble.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Atomic Habits by James Clear. It has changed my life.
Any advice to entrepreneurs out there?
I think the number 1 piece of advice I would give to entrepreneurs is to never give up and don’t take no for an answer. Always keep developing and learning about whatever it is you are working on.
What mindsets helped make you so successful?
Always staying determined and passionate about my craft. There will be setbacks and rejection in this field of work, but with hard work and dedication, eventually you will get what you want.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
Everything happens for a reason. When one door closes, another one will open for something that was even better than you imagined.
How did you get started into acting?
I believe I was around 14 or 15 when I decided I wanted to start acting. After Dance Moms, I realized I enjoyed being behind a camera but I knew I wanted to go more into scripted TV work so I started taking classes and I have been taking them ever since!
How do you prepare for a role?
I love music and I am constantly listening to music, so to prepare for a role, I like to create a playlist of songs I think the character relates to and that helps me get in the mindset of the character. I just listen to the playlist over and over.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I think the supernatural/sci-fi roles are super fun to play because they are so different from real life. I enjoy the roles that you can experiment and play with something that is so far from your comfort zone of what you know.
Which fictional character would be the most exciting to meet in real life?
Barbie, she just seems like so much fun and I think we would get along great.
Can you name 3 actors/actresses you would love to work with?
Margot Robbie, Angela Bassett, and Rachel McAdams
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Don’t care what others think of you, do whatever makes you happy. Even if it’s against the “norm” .
What’s next for Sarah Reasons in 2023?
I plan on writing more scripts as well as developing and creating more designs for my clothing line, Unfit. I also plan on pitching The Crest as a TV series later on this year!
What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?
To me, a perfect Sunday would be spending all day at the beach reading a book and getting dinner with my friends!
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Taylor Swift. She is one of my biggest inspirations and I have been her biggest fan since I was a little girl.
Do you support any charity?
I am an ambassador for the National Eczema Association. This organization is really personal to me because when I was little I was diagnosed with Hyper-IGE and a symptom is severe eczema. I want to help little kids all around the world to know that anything is possible and they don’t need to let their condition define them.
Name 3 things you can’t live without?
My dog, chipotle, and folklore by Taylor Swift
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I definitely see myself continuing to grow as a screenwriter. Maybe even producing my own tv show.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Anything Taylor Swift
