Hi Kristi, please tell us a little about you?
Hi! My name is Kristi Howard, I’m a 26 year old content creator living in Nashville TN. I love sharing my life online and being creative through storytelling and videos. I share all things from my pets, fashion hauls, beauty favorites, mental health struggles, and my grief journey. I’m a very independent person so I love being alone in the comfort of my own home which works out great because my entire job is on my phone! However, when I do get out I love to be a social butterfly and cause a little chaos in the best way. I hope to use my platform to inspire others and normalize taking life one day at a time because no one is ever promised tomorrow.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Chaotic, Entertaining, Loner
Best advice ever given?
Create the life you can’t wait to wake up to.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?
My sister, Cat. She taught me basically everything about life growing up from the girly stuff, the good stuff, the bad stuff, but she also taught me how to be a better human. She was never afraid of anyone or anything which I always admired. She overcame the wildest things life threw at her and would continue the next day as if nothing happened. She showed me that one bad decision does not define you. She taught me the importance of love. She taught me how to have a more nurturing side and a warmer heart. I don’t think I’ve ever truly felt love from another human the way that I felt it from my sister. She changed my life and shaped me into the person I am today.
How did you get started into fashion, beauty and lifestyle content?
I started doing makeup tutorials and clothing hauls on youtube when I was around 14/15! I’ve just evolved with the platforms over the years and switched to vlogging which leaned more into the lifestyle content. When TikTok came around, people were really able to see ME for ME and the behind the scenes of my life!
What’s your advice for the newer fashion and beauty influencers or entrepreneurs?
Trends change and fade out QUICK so be consistent BUT also figure out what makes you YOU and stands out from everyone else in this industry.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
-Nothing is as peachy as it seems online. People are only showing you what they want you to see. Don’t let it discourage you.
-You won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s impossible to be liked by everyone. This goes for both brands and your audience. There will always be people who simply do not like you and that’s okay.
-”Followers” is just a number. It’s about what you do with your platform and what kind of presence you have on others.
As a popular influencer you are followed by so many people, including young girls. How do you feel about that pressure of always doing the right thing, and encouraging people to follow their dreams?
I have a little 11 year old niece who follows me so I definitely always keep in mind to try and not be “too crazy” but at the same time, I felt like I held back so much of who I was online for so many years in fear of getting in trouble or upsetting my elders, teachers, and boss’s, etc. At the end of the day, I am going to thrive the most at being MYSELF and I can’t hold back who I am just to keep a certain image of myself for others. I think there is a way to share your life without being super in depth and as long as you’re not a bad person there isn’t too much to be worried about. My little niece knows I’m a “crazy girly” but I don’t ever post anything that I wouldn’t tell her about anyways. She likes hearing my crazy stories and I just hope if anything I can show her to embrace her weirdness and not be afraid of what others think!
Can you share the planning or your daily work-day process?
I try to balance GRWM’s, Unboxings, Daily Vlogs so that nothing is too repetitive on my page or back to back. If I’m doing a brand deal or ad I’ll never post them back to back or the same day either, I feel like it’s more authentic mixing into my daily content. Anytime I have a random thought I want to vent about I just pull my phone out and film a tik tok about it as if it were my private snap story or something I would send to a friend, so those are never planned out. Basically just mixing in a little bit of everything throughout the week that I enjoy creating!
What’s next for Kristi Howard in the last months of 2023?
Hopefully I’ll be spending time at home- I love Christmas content and decorating for all of the upcoming holidays. I also think my viewers like watching me at my house doing daily relatable tasks vs traveling all the time! I may or may not be working on something potentially coming this November but you’ll have to follow along to see!
In five years from now, where do you see yourself and your career?
My content will definitely shift as I grow older and change. In five years I could be married with kids and become a chaotic mommy vlogger or I could be living in a new state doing something completely left field who knows! I’m always surprising myself honestly.
How would you explain your fashion style and what items in your closet can you not be without?
Comfortable, Feminine, Cool. On a typical day to day basis I’m always in sweats, even in the summertime. My go-to outfit is always a matching sweat set and joggers. However, I have 3 closets and a terrible shopping addiction. I do LOVE fashion, I just don’t feel the need to step out in outfits unless i’m going OUT OUT rather than just running errands in Nashville. When I do actually dress up (outside of sweats) I always am colorful, super girly, and if it’s daylight I’ll lean into the street style more. Baggy jeans, with a cute little baby tee is always a look. I also am a huge lover of sneakers.
