Hi Kourtney, please tell us a little about you?
I grew up in Texas, graduated from college in Arkansas with a degree in pre-physical therapy and now I’m living out my dream as a model in Los Angeles.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Friendly, ambitious, understanding
How and when did you start into modeling?
My first shoot was at 14 years old for a cheerleading catalog. I immediately knew that was my dream job and I began applying to local modeling agencies.
What is fun and rewarding about modeling? And what is not?
My favorite part is meeting new, creative people. I love being able to work in various locations and hear others stories and how they got to that point in their career. Not so fun- making sure my body is photo shoot ready at all times. Nails, hair, skin, spray tan, physique. It’s really a very first world problem for me to have, but the upkeep is constant. I’m very grateful for my career and all the freedom I have.
Can you name a few of the brands you are working or have worked with?
My favorite bookings so far have been commercial shoots that included Frito Lay, AT&T, & Walmart to name a few. I also love my role as a ring card girl & I’ve had the honor of standing beside some of the best fighters in the ring.
The most important thing when you are shooting is?
I always want to get exactly what the client envisions so I do my best to be coachable & get the best shots so everyone is happy.
What’s your advice for the newer models and influencers?
Now is not the time for perfection. Just post it & show what makes you unique. The flaws and imperfections that you see are tiny things no one will notice. Social media has recently begun to play a major role in the modeling industry so my advice is to continually post, be yourself and not overthink it.
How did you get started into the social media business?
I downloaded instagram with my college roommates back in 2010, I think, not knowing how big of an impact it would make.
Tell us about your experience working with such a popular world-wide agency like Select Model Management?
I love my Select Family! They were the 1st major agency to scout me & immediately after I signed with Select, they booked a job for me with a rate that was double anything I’d ever booked before. I cried the happiest tears
When you started your Social Media accounts, did you expected such a success?
Not at all. I downloaded IG with my college roommates in Arkansas back when it was all about food & heavy filters with borders. I kept chasing this wild dream that I could model so I started working with photographers in Arkansas before “collabs” were even a thing. I posted these “modeling” photos and it was really awkward at first, but Im so happy I did it.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Oh I have so many that I love, but I would recommend Think and Grow Rich first and then Becoming Supernatural which I am currently reading and LOVE.
I bet you get millions of it, but what are the best and worst Instagram DM pickup lines you received so far?
The best DM award goes to my boyfriend. He slide in my Dm’s with “You have the most beautiful smile” and I fell for it lol I get some bad ones, but my least favorite is just straight emojis. There is no thought put into it & why would a girl respond to that. Try a little harder gentlemen.
Do you support any charity?
Human Trafficking is a heart breaking issue that often is overlooked. When in Houston, I connected with A 2nd Cup which is a non profit coffee shop that fights tirelessly to end modern slavery. I hosted their annual fundraiser & stopped by any chance I could to grab coffee for a great cause. Currently looking for a similar organization in LA so if anyone has a suggestion please slide in my DMS.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Cuddling up with my frenchie Stitch with a cup of coffee and a great book.
