Describe your sound in 3 words?
Empowering, sensual, fun!
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
My biggest influences growing up were Freddie Mercury, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey. I still am heavily influenced by these artists but I am also fascinated by the people I meet in my day to day life & the stories they share with me. The idea of ‘sonder’ is something I think about often.
I would say I honestly didn’t have a choice in pursuing music, it pursued me. I can’t imagine doing anything else and I wouldn’t want to. My goal is to be the representation for women as a ethnic curvy Aussie woman. It’s something that I didn’t see growing up. A big part of my story is that I am from a very small town in Australia and women don’t really get the opportunities to pursue music. Majority of the time, we follow the specific structure of getting married at a certain age and having children as soon as we can. I would like to be the representation to women that it is absolutely okay to walk a certain path. It is absolutely okay to follow your own timeline and do things at your own pace. I hope to inspire the next generation of women in music that there is room for all of us and that we grow as one.
Do you play any instrument?
Yes piano & electric guitar.
Do you ever get nervous?
ALWAYS!
Tell us about your new single “You Lied?”
My new song You Lied was written when I was in LA in a session with my good friends Courtney Paige Nelson & Jon Clifton.
What’s the story behind the song?
Last year I met a guy and we start dating.. it’s all going great until he told one white lie. Then he told another and then another & after that it just turned into a spider web and it was hard to keep track of them all.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
For me the most rewarding part of my work has been the ability to impact others through my artistry & my writing. To have the ability to connect with people all around the world and meet some very talented people I get to call my best friends. It is incredibly fulfilling to connect and collaborate with an audience. I also get a sense of accomplishment when I recognise the personal growth I have had from when I started releasing music in 2017 to now. I am still growing and developing everyday and I am very proud of my ability to always be a student in this industry.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Winning by Tim Grover!
How would your best friend describe you?
A pain in the ass but a good laugh!
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
“Harmonious Appetite – The melodic journey of an RnB singer with ADHD.”
What’s next for Lauren Greco in the last months of 2023 and for 2024?
To continue to grow as an artist and keep putting in the work to be the best version of myself.
I have some big plans for 2024 but can’t share too much yet 😉
What is your favorite healthy food?
I have an addiction to red capsicum LOL
And your favorite cheat food?
Burgers, fries, wings, pizza anything greasy with extra oil & salt.
How would you explain your fashion style?
Street with a sensual flare!
What is your own definition of happiness?
To do what I love everyday, to find joy in the process of creating and performing music and to prioritise my own personal fulfilment and growth over external validation or success. To me happiness is seeing the people around me happy and fed, it’s the Italian in me.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Kehlani! She is my biggest inspiration as a musical artist and it would be a dream to meet her and thank her for the impact she has had on not only my own artistic direction but my life!
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
I would LOOOVE to visit Africa on a safari. It’s always been my dream to visit the elephants. I would also love to go to Morocco and take my parents on a trip as a way to say thank you to them for raising me.
Best advice ever given?
Everybody in your life has a time limit. We have a last and final day with every person we meet and we never know when that could be.. act accordingly.
Do you support any charity?
Yes, The Butterfly Foundation in Australia! A charity for women with eating disorders.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
As a multi-platinum recording artist touring the world, writing songs with like minded people.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Well currently it’s Mariah season so “All I want for Christmas is You” It’s Time!!
What do you think of Social Media?
I think it’s an excellent tool for marketing and to connect with family/friends but I can definitely say that it does have negative side effects.
I know in my experience personally I have struggled with comparing myself to images online but I remind myself it is just a highlight reel. Sometimes it’s important to log off and be in the real world.
