Hi BAYLA, please tell us a little about you?
Hi! I’m BAYLA — A Pop singer-songwriter from Montreal, QC!.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Fun Sing-Along Pop.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
As a kid, my dad’s sound system was probably my favourite “toy”, even though I was forbidden to play with it — for good reason though, because I remember dropping pennies into it for fun as a little one! It is safe to say that I was influenced early on by my dad’s record collection, Fleetwood Mac being an early favourite. I’d say I never made a conscious decision to pursue music, but that it just felt like the natural thing for me to do.
What is your next goal as a musician?
I’m kind of old school, so my next goal as a musician is to release an EP or album. Up to this point, I’ve been releasing singles, so I’m very much looking forward to being able to share a project with multiple songs, so I can truly share a full story and message!
Now tell us about your single “Monster?”
“Monster” is for anyone who has ever experienced bullying. I like to call it an “F-U anthem” to all the bullies and haters out there!

What we can expect of BAYLA in 2020?
I’ve been in the studio a lot over the past few months, and it is safe to say that you will be hearing lots of new music from me in 2020!
Now tell us about winning the 7th Annual RBC Emerging Musician Program?
Being named Canada’s Walk of Fame “RBC Emerging Musician” of 2019 has been absolutely surreal! From performing at the Canada’s Walk of Fame Award Show, to being introduced to many incredible people in the industry, this program is a huge opportunity, and I am so grateful for the experience!
What is your own definition of happiness?
Happiness to me is the ability to turn off any anxiety, be surrounded by loved ones, and to be making music!
Any loves other than music?
I have a pretty serious obsession with my pup, Enzo.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Stevie Nicks. Listening to “Landslide” is probably my earliest memory of music, and I remember the song making me feel something incredibly magical.
