Hi Kami, describe yourself in 3 words?
Passionate, charismatic, unique
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I started music at a young age, started a band with my 2 older sisters at 6 years old, as a drummer, writer, and backup vocalists. When I was 16 the band and I split up, but I continued to make music, I taught myself how to produce and engineer myself in my bedroom, 3 years later I have about over 200 songs unreleased, and this year im finally ready to start showing the world who I am.
How has this changed your life?
Music has consumed my life, its all I do every day, I don’t think about anything else besides music. Music is my outlet, so its helped me through a lot, but my drive for music has also isolated me from the people around me, which can be difficult sometimes, but everyone who believes and supports me understands.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Unique, universal, purpose
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
My love for music started at such a young age, so im not sure who the spark came from. I remember when I wrote my first song at 6, this song had a deeper meaning than a usual 6 year old would write, and I wrote it for my parents, when I sang it to them, they started to cry, and I remember a that moment a spark a lit up. I loved how I was able to spark emotions for people through my music, and I think my passion for that has never stopped.

Do you play any instrument?
I play the drums and i produce
Do you ever get nervous?
Yes, all the time, I’m a very anxious person, I’m also a people pleaser, so I care sometimes too much about what people think lol.
Tell us about your new single “love songs vol. 1?”
Love songs is a funk, 80s production influenced, pop song, I wrote and produced. When creating this song I wanted something more upbeat, and fun. My producer Andy helped me add some final touches on the song as well.
What’s the story behind the song?
I wrote “love songs vol.1” about loving someone when its wrong in the eyes of others. This concept came from a personal experience I went through. I was so infatuated with this person I kept fighting for the relationship no matter how wrong people said it was because at the time I didn’t think it was. This song ties into the “drama queen” album because each song on the project talks about a different stage of heartbreak, and this was the struggle I went through to stick up and fight for this person before we broke. I think this song relates to a lot of peoples situations, when it comes to loving the wrong person but thinking its right. When in reality love can be blinding, and we tend to look past all the bad and ugly because we are taught to “fight for what we love.” If I could give some advice to anyone out there, is that if you’re willing to fight to love someone make sure the love is right for you.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
I wanna say the most rewarding part for me is finishing the songs lol, but after my last release I think my most rewarding part is once I release the song and I get a message about how my song has helped that person, that is an amazing feeling. Because that is my whole purpose from the beginning. So when I see messages like that 6 y/o me is screaming inside lol.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
I’ve read 2 last year that have helped me through a time where I was lacking faith and drive. “think and grow rich” by Napoleon hill and “the power of discipline” by Daniel Walter
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
That’s a loaded question, I’ve learned a lot especially in the last couple years. But this lesson I learned more recently, and that was to just start actually listening to myself more. I strive to be strong and independent so much I will invalidate my feelings by saying im okay, when I could hear my pain through my music, so sometimes I just need to listen, listen to my own songs and words I’m saying, and reflect, and heal.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I think looking back I care more about how people preserve me now than I did as a kid so in this case I could use some advice from my younger self, but if I had to give her advice it would be, People will try to take your light, but you’re light will only dim if you let it. Stay true to yourself and authentic to your purpose and stay connected to your inner child forever.
How would your best friend describe you?
Crazy, funny, and caring.
What’s next for Kami Kehoe in 2023?
Theres a lot I plan on doing in 2023. But my main goal is to get a bunch of music finally out there for the world to hear. I’m releasing a concept album in April called “drama queen” then I will release a couple singles after and then another album called “ear sex”
How would you explain your fashion style?
All over the place lol, I like a bit of edge in my clothing mixed with street style, mixture of masculine and feminine.
What is your own definition of happiness?
I’m still trying to figure that out lol. Im happy at different times in my life, but I’m not sure if that’s true happiness, or a feeling I’m trying to cover up. When I feel like I’m truly happy is when im doing really well with my music and my health, and spending more time with my family and friends. But sometimes I tend to overwhelm myself and I get stressed out which makes it hard to stay positive all the time.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Theres so many influxes I have that are alive I would love to meet, these artist have inspired me and definitely has a part into my sound, Miley Cyrus, Russ, Shelia E, Omer Apollo
Mac Miller, I just started listening to him about 4 years ago. Every time I play his music It feels like he speaks to me. like I needed to hear what he was saying. He has also played a huge part in my sound I’ve developed over the last 3 years as a solo artist.
Best advice ever given?
Be yourself, basic I know, but I feel like people start to lose there true selves as they get older and its important to know who you are because if you don’t you will start to feel lost, and being “lost” is a dark place to me in.
Do you support any charity?
I do not at the moment, but I have some future plans I want to do to help with the Foster care systems.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Im a firm believer, that gods/universes thoughts are higher than mine. So I believe I will go far in 5 years if I keep pursuing my passion, and working hard, and staying authentic.
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Right now, glimpse of us, by Joji
What do you think of Social Media?
Not a fan, I wish social media didn’t exist, I just think its super toxic, and I’m not a fan of promoting myself, it feels like I’m begging for peoples attention and that annoys me lol. But unfortunately in the generation we live in, that’s all that matters in some peoples eyes. So I try my hardest to come off authentic in front of the screen, and just truly showcase my music.
