Hi Karla, where are you from originally?
I am originally from Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, a beautiful colonial and super historical city, I love it, but I have lived in Mexico City for 11 years.
What do you like most about CDMX?
Since I was a child, I always imagined living in CDMX, which is why I love everything, each area of the city is very peculiar, the variety of places, restaurants, shopping malls, clothing stores, recreational parks, entertainment centers, and the gastronomy that is different from Morelia.
Tell us a little about your experience for the photo session for Swimwear Fasion Weekend in CDMX?
Wearing those beautiful outfits, I loved it and we had a very nice time with everyone on the team, very professional, by the way.
What do you think of the promotion of local brands and designers?
It is very good that everything that is from your region or country is supported and promoted, in this case everything that is Made in Mexico, we are a country full of a lot of talent, and it must be exploited.
What destination in Mexico that you still do not know, would you like to visit?
The Copper Canyon, in Chihuahua. It is an incredible place that I must visit very soon, I am looking forward to it.
Tell us a little about your modeling career, how did you start?
I started at the age of 17 doing catwalks and modeling in my hometown but it was very sporadic and only as a hobby, since I was studying medicine. Then I was in the Nuestra Belleza México contest representing Michoacán and from that I came to live in CDMX for a while and in the end, I stayed to live here. I was in other beauty contests representing Mexico and I got to know several countries like China, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, etc. From then on I started modeling professionally, here in CDMX, commercials, catalogs, catwalks, etc. I studied acting and did other things as well, but, that’s basically how I got started in this business.
What advice would you give to women trying to become models?
That they try, that they never want to do something, it is better to try than to stay with the desire, that is terrible.
What would be the greatest learning during this stage?
That at the end of every good or bad situation, those who, sincerely and with love, will always be there unconditionally… is the family.
What advice would you give to women trying to become models?
That they try, that they never want to do something, it is better to try than to stay with the desire, that is terrible.
What project in which you have participated have you liked the most? And what project would you like to participate in?
I loved participating in an international judo championship in Kazakhstan, they paid me, I “worked”, I traveled and back to Mexico, I visited two more countries, that project was incredible.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Active, honest and sensitive.
Name one of your strengths?
Resilience.
Do you have any role models?
Well honestly and without being religious, but my best role model is Jesus, there is no better role model for me than that haha.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
My parents definitely.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
TV host and model.
What did you learn from your biggest failure?
That I am very strong, that once you hit the bottom… all that remains is to start climbing, and that there is no deeper abyss from which God cannot pull you out.
The best advice you have followed?
Do not do what you would not like to be done to you. I always have it in mind.
On the modeling side, beautiful women like you are very intimidating to most men. How should a guy approach you?
In a natural way, without pretense or arrogance, just simple and pleasant, I like people like that.
What magazines have you been in throughout your career?
Uy, in several, starting from when I started modeling, in local magazines, and later in magazines and catalogs in CDMX as a professional model, for different brands, of shoes, clothes, makeup, shampoo, etc.
What magazine or project is still on your wish list?
The truth is that I have fulfilled many of my wishes but I would love to, speaking of modeling… continue doing TV commercials, it’s very cool.
If you could meet someone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
To the BackstreetBoys, because as a good Millennial, when I was a teenager… I was a very, very big fan, and I would have loved to take a picture with them and talk a little haha.
What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?
At home, in pajamas, drinking tea, eating delicious food and watching movies all day, that’s perfect for me.
Anything people don’t know about you?
That apart from having studied Communication and Acting Sciences and being a model… soon and first God, I will be a clinical psychologist too! And I feel very happy for this new achievement.
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
His smile, charisma and values.
Name 3 things you cannot live without:
God, my two babies and also I can’t live without feeling proactive, without working.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love beef or chicken broths, with vegetables, they are super nutritious, easy to cook and delicious.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Family
Do you support any charities?
Not as such, but I do like to help in other ways. I believe that “good deeds” are situations in which if a person does them… people should not know why, because those are things that are done from the heart… if it is disclosed, I think it loses its true value, and the only one, for me, that rewards those “actions” either by donating or helping people in one way or another… the only one is GOD and he is the only one who should know.
Can you describe a typical day in your life?
Every day is very different, there is not so much everyday life, what is, is that I am always super active, doing many things.
The truth is that my days were not ordinary before, I always worked, traveled and walked from one place to another, but now!… with motherhood, my life has changed completely! Mom’s life, I work from home ” home office”, and I like to go out to different places to eat, almost every day…
Who is your favorite actor or actress?
Anne Hathaway is very good, pretty and I like her style.
Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
I really don’t have.
Who are some of your favorite designers and why?
Adolfo Dominguez, I love his style, elegance and the fabrics he uses, Alexander McQueen for drama and Daniel Espinosa for jewelry.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I like fashion, I’m a bit conservative and at the same time dramatic, in terms of colors, cuts, textures, glitter, sequins, I love different things and even clothes that not everyone could wear, I do wear them, haha .
In 5 years how would you like to see yourself?
Happy with my family, traveling, because I love it and eating delicious, as always, haha.
What do you think of social networks?
They are fun and serve to keep an eye on the lives of the people we love, but they can be very distracting, waste time when used excessively, or even a problem for many young people who often compare themselves to “aspirational” people and subtract from their self-esteem, this social network is an extensive topic, but “everything with measure”.
