Hi Shelia’, please tell us a little about you?
Heyy it’s your girl Shelia’ Celine. I’m a rapper, singer, actor, media reporter, and model. I love being on stage performing, inspiring other kids like myself.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
I would describe myself as entertaining, silly, and determined.
How did you get started into acting?
I always used to tell my parents “I want to be on TV one day.” So, my parents put me in acting classes at around five-years-old. I got signed to an agency and booked my first commercial. One commercial led to another, and here l am now!!!
How has this changed your life?
It hasn’t really changed my life In a big way, the only way this changed my life is I have to make some sacrifices. Sometimes I’ll have to miss an experience to go to a friend’s birthday party, or to visit family.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
The best part about being an actress is meeting new people and getting to experience new sets!! The worst part about being an actress is the schedule. When I was on set for “That Girl Lay Lay” I was super duper tired. I had to wake up every day at five in the morning to get there at seven. I was so tired but I really liked being on set so it was all worth it!
How do you prepare for a role?
How I prepare for a role is, I make sure I get a lot of sleep, eat as healthy as I can, and just focus on what my character’s goals are. That way I have energy, and clarity. That’s how I prepare overall.
Tell us about your work in projects like “If I Knew You Were Coming” and in the film “The Last Hero?”
In “If I knew you were coming”, I was little Toni. Toni was my father in the film whose character ended up being played by actor Norman Towns! That was my first short film, and I had a lot of fun on set. In the last hero, I play Shanice, the younger sister of the main character who’s the hero in the film. She saves the day after we are basically starving in the film. I also enjoyed working on “The Last Hero” because my little brother was also casted as my little brother in the film, and his character name was Jeremy.
How did you get the role and how challenging was the casting?
I was actually requested by the director to play Shanice. We worked together on “If I Knew You Were Coming.” So the casting process was a breeze.
What other projects have you been part of?
I’m in That Girl Lay Lays tv show (the episode coming out soon), and I play young Nicki Minaj in her and Ice Spice new music video “Barbie World” for the Barbie soundtrack for the new Barbie World movie coming out. I also go to work with Dixie Damelio, and Steve Aoki for their music video “Older.” I had a lot of fun on the set of that one too.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I would like to have some sci-fi roles. I am already a bubbly girl, so I definitely think that sci-fi roles would show another layer of my talent. I’m really into horror, and sci-fi right now.
If you weren’t acting, what would you be up to right now?
I’d be rapping and dancing. I know it’s very surprising but I absolutely love dancing!!! I always learn the choreography when I rehearse for performances so quickly, dancing and I definitely have a connection.
Which fictional character would be the most exciting to meet in real life?
I would be most excited to meet Miles Morales…… No other words needed, next question!!!
Can you name 3 actors/actresses you would love to work with?
Mille Bobby Brown, Halle Bailey (she’s my all time favorite) and The Rock!!!
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part of my work is actually being able to be in the position I’m in. I’m just so grateful to have my family and friends supporting me!! There’s nothing more rewarding than that!!!
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
My advice for new actors is to do lots of training and have fun with it. There’s no such thing as acting without fun!! If anything it’s playing pretend!!!
Now tell us about your single “No Cap That’s Fact?”
“No Cap That’s Fact” is about my career and everything I do like acting, modeling, and rapping and everything I do is really authentic and true 100% real no cap!! So That’s what “No Cap” means. Just all facts.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
My music is Catchy, poppy, and fun!!
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
My mom influenced me to do music because she used to do music. She was going to awards, and all kinds of things, and it’s really funny because at one of the award shows my mom went to, she was pregnant with me! So I basically met the Kardashins, Queen Latifah, Taylor Swift, and so many celebrities right from my Mother’s belly. Lol
Do you play any instrument?
I don’t play any instruments, but my voice is my instrument!
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
Put business first before fun. Every time I go somewhere I wanna go have some fun with my friends, but I need to network and meet new people. Once I do that then I go play with my friends!! This business is definitely teaching me to always stay focused, and disciplined.
How would your best friend describe you?
I actually told my friend to describe me in three words and she said Smart, kind, and creative. I really didn’t expect her to say that lol!! I’m glad to know she does think those things about me.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
My book title would be “ The Cali Princess”. I would call my book that because that’s who I am, and life should be a fairytale.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I would tell her “Take your time, and keep going, you’re almost there.”
What book should every entrepreneur read?
That’s a good question. I would say every entrepreneur should read something that teaches them about what they are interested in.
What’s next for Shelia’ Celine in 2023?
Definitely more music, music videos, and live performances. Trying to stay working like Beyoncé, and making sure I’m putting my priorities first. I’m really looking forward to starting middle school in the fall as well. First year.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I’m obsessed with lettuce!! Every time me and my family make tacos I’ll rinse off the lettuce and eat it all. My parents always have to stop me before I eat it all!!
And your favorite cheat food?
I have three. Hot Cheetos, Milky Way, and Skittles. I mainly eat the hot Cheetos the most because I love spicy chips, just like my Mom!!
What is your own definition of happiness?
My own definition of happiness is, I make myself happy. I’m my definition of happiness.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Michael Jackson, he is my favorite artist and I still listen to his songs and look at his music videos to find inspiration for my own performances.
Best advice ever given?
“Stay ready so you ain’t got to get ready”. Not only is it the best advice, I love that advice!! It means be prepared always.
Do you support any charity?
Yes I do support charities, I perform at charities all the time. Whether it’s a charity raising money or a back to school charity, I’m always down to entertain and give away for charity. I also go to women and children shelters around the world, and give back.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I see myself still rapping and acting, but I really want to start some type of business of my own.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
I’m a HUGE Sza fan, so I’m always gonna perform “Kill Bill” in the car!!
What do you think of Social Media?
Social Media is kinda bitter sweet I think. It’s sweet for promoting yourself, building that fan base, but also people would try to say mean things about you and you might take it seriously and it can affect you. I’ve been through that before so I’m barely on social media because of that. So I can stay true to myself and not let others make me question myself. I think it’s not good for kids.
