Describe your sound in three words.
Alternative, dynamic, pop/rock
Who influenced you, and why did you choose to make music?
The very first artist who influenced me to start singing and making music was Christina Aguilera. I vividly remember when I was around 6, my dad played her song “hurt” and I instantly fell in love. She’s just incredible and I’d die to have her voice.
Do you play any instruments?
Apart from singing I’ve played piano for 12 years. I also play a little guitar and use it to write a lot of my songs, even though I suck at it!
Do you ever get nervous?
Most definitely. I used to have severe anxiety and it really affected my day-to-day life, especially when it came to music – but spirituality has helped me overcome it significantly.
Tell us about your new single, “Tell Me A Lie?”
“Tell me a lie” is my favorite song I’ve written so far (apart from the new one I wrote last week).
What’s the story behind the song?
To be completely honest, the story is about a delusional girl who wants something she can’t have.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Literally all of it! Especially hearing the demo for the first time and falling in love with something you created. It’s truly an indescribable feeling. And of course the ability to help or inspire anyone who listens to my music. It means the absolute world to me.
What book should anyone interested in music read?
The music-business books. Those are crucial for artists, especially independent ones like me, there is always something new to be learnt!
What advice would you give to your younger self, and why?
To trust the universe and be patient. And most importantly to always be your authentic self.
How would your best friend describe you?
Loyal, supportive, adventurous.
If you were a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Limitless.
What’s next for Sabina Beyli in 2024?
A LOT OF NEW MUSIC!
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love salmon and avocados, so anything that contains those.
And your favorite cheat food?
Sweets. I have the biggest sweet tooth
How would you explain your fashion style?
I wouldn’t even try to explain it. I like unique pieces but I don’t necessarily like to stick to one aesthetic/label. I love experimenting and just having fun with it.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Seeing beauty in everything. Happiness is something I choose everyday, and I feel it by detaching myself form the materialistic world and living in the present.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Freddy Mercury and Amy Winehouse. Need I say more?
What would be your dream holiday, and who would you go with?
I really want to go to Japan with my brothers and cousins.
Best advice ever given?
Hard work, every time.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years?
Having a few albums out, touring and adopting a bunch of dogs.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car or for karaoke?”
All the albums by the Neighborhood
What do you think of social media?
I have a love hate relationship with social media because my job requires a high social media presence but at the same time it’s important to take necessary breaks for your mental health.
