Check out our interview with new sci-fi thriller film SIMULANT actress Maša (pronounced Masha) Lizdek.
Maša plays Lisa, a land-based Interior Service Android, a factory-created simulate who works for Evan (Robbie Ammell) and his wife Faye (Jordana Brewster). Despite her robotic face and exoskeleton, there is something caring in her movements and she is not without a sense of humour.
SIMULANT follows the story of Faye, a widowed woman searching for comfort following the loss of her husband Evan by using an android simulant, or SIM, created in his image. Although nearly identical to her husband, Faye can’t bring herself to love the android in the same way she loved her husband leaving SIM Evan’s love unrequited. Determined to win her heart, SIM Evan’s exceptional ability to think and feel triggers a manhunt led by government agent Kessler (Sam Worthington) who oversees capturing conscious, and potentially dangerous, SIMs.

Hi Maša, please tell us a little about you
31 years old, female and I have three cats! I enjoy playing guitar and doing yoga.
What is the best and most challenging part of being an actress?
Some years will be better than others. It’s important to keep the faith and work on yourself. Physical and mental health.
How do you prepare for a role?
A healthy lifestyle, good company and lots of research!
Tell us about your work in the new sci-fi thriller film “SIMULANT?”
I am super excited about this film! SIMULANT is a sci-fi thriller, directed by April Mullen, that captures two stories intertwined with each other, both dealing with the battles of loss and grief. I play a service Android by the name of LISA. A modern and sleeker version of Rosie from The Jetsons.
How was working alongside a great cast like Simu Liu, Sam Worthington, Jordana Brewster and Robbie Amell like?
So incredible… I didn’t have a scene with Worthington but I met him at the premiere and he is super kind. Liu was so generous and got the whole cast and crew burgers on his last day. Brewster is really funny. We had some great bonding moments together and Amell is incredibly humble. He made me feel seen through all that prosthetic!
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I do like to play complicated characters, ones that are hard to read. Especially villains who you might love to hate. I have more fun in that category.
If you weren’t acting, what would you be up to right now?
I would travel and become a yoga instructor. Or perhaps one of those people that rate hotels.
Which fictional character would be the most exciting to meet in real life?
Michael Scott, Gandalf, and Walter White
Can you name 3 actors/actresses you would love to work with?
Morgan Freeman, Sandra Bullock, and Jodie Foster
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Meeting new people and building new connections. Making memories I can treasure forever!
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
Confidence is key. You can get away with anything, with confidence.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
Learn everyone’s name. No matter which department. Say it out loud when you meet them or write their names down. Maybe remember a little something extra so the next time you see them, you can ask – hey, how was Costa Rica?!
What’s next for Maša Lizdek in 2023?
The Boy in the Woods directed by Rebecca Snow. This is a story based in 1940’s Nazi Germany about a young boy fighting for his life during the Holocaust. A true story told by Maxwell Smart, portrayed by Jett Kylne. Richard Armitage and I play two Polish peasants who help Max as much as we can.
What is your favorite healthy food?
A well balanced green smoothie
And your favorite cheat food?
Pizza or Pasta with mushrooms and truffles!
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Freddie Mercury, for obvious reasons.
Best advice ever given?
Elliot Gould once told me, the best thing you can do is listen.
Favorite song? Why?
