Multi-talented and ferociously determined, Patricia’s sound is a modern meet between rhythmic Afro House and Deep Tech, resulting in a seductive blend that is laced with her own hypnotic vocals.
Embarking on a new chapter in her musical journey, Patricia Baloge is preparing for the release of her debut EP, ‘Womb’. Spreading a message of women’s empowerment, as well as inner emancipation, the three-track extended play beckons listeners into a deep and groovy soundscape. Featuring ‘Holy Trinity’, ‘Authentique’ and ‘Reborn’, the ‘Womb’ EP is just a taste of what this mesmerizing artist has to offer. Naluda Magazine caught up with Patricia Baloge ahead of the EP’s full release on September 17th.

Hey Patricia! Welcome to Naluda Magazine. Please tell us a little about you?
Hey! I’m Patricia Baloge, a music artist. I sing, I produce music and I DJ.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
I’d say that I’m passionate, kind and courageous.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I met a DJ who introduced me to the art of mixing and I fell in love with it. For that reason, I decided to pursue music in all its aspects.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Deep, groovy and strong.
You are gearing up to release your debut EP, ‘Womb’. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the EP and what the process was like recording it?
The inspiration behind this EP is my life. It sonically depicts my rebirth into the woman I choose to be, after the lessons I have learned over the years. I’ve seen so many women succumb to the lies that society has thrown at them. It can be so easy to lose ourselves if we don’t take the space and the freedom to truly know who we are. Feeling the weight of it myself, I realized it was time to let my music release me from those lies to make me brand new.
If I’m being completely honest this whole project felt like a divine intervention. I produced and recorded it in my home studio during the lockdown. It was a transformational experience because it forced me to study myself and my surroundings in a way I never did before.
Which artists and styles inspired and influenced you?
There are so many artists and music genres that have inspired me over the years. One in particular that has impacted me this last decade in the Pop music scene is Christine and The Queens. She is so fearless. Other than that, I grew up heavy on 80s pop (Cindy Lauper, Deniece Williams, Madonna…), African music (Brenda Fassie, Kojo Antwi, Sarkodie…), Reggae, Rnb and Soul music. I’m inspired by all of it. And of course I DJ House and Techno which have tremendously enriched my musical landscape.
Do you ever get nervous?
Oh yeah. But I get it now. I get nervous when I’m about to do something great. So being nervous is not that bad after all. I embrace it.
Best gig you have ever played?
My most memorable gig was one of the last gigs I played before the lockdown. It was at House of Yes in Brooklyn.
Did you have plans/gigs planned and cancelled because of COVID? If so, have you done any online events or interaction with your fans?
I didn’t have any gigs canceled because of COVID. And yes, I did a couple live DJ sets.
What is fun and rewarding about what you do? And what’s not?
Sharing my music with an audience is the best thing ever. It makes me feel alive and happy. All of it is rewarding.
What’s your advice for the newer singer/songwriters?
Do your thing. Work at it. And let nothing or no one stop you.
What was the first record that you bought?
Nomakanjani by Brenda Fassie, an incredible late South African singer.
What do you have planned for the rest of this year?
I’m working on releasing new music.
If you could play anywhere in the world, where would it be, and who else would be on the lineup?
A dream place to play at would be The Great Pyramids of Giza. As a singer, my ideal lineup would be, Banks, Christine and The Queens, Burna Boy and Fka Twigs.
Best advice ever given to you?
“Your attention is precious. Not everything or everyone deserves it.”
Name one your strengths?
Determination
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
A Sunday spent with family.
What is your own definition of happiness?
To me happiness comes from knowing that I’m actively walking my own unique path while surrounded by my loved ones. I think from that comes peace. And to me peace is the closest thing to happiness.
Do you support any charities?
I do. I support an organization called World Vision. It’s an organization that helps children from third world countries by allowing us to sponsor a child or multiple children we wish to help. You can find them at www.worldvision.org
What is your favorite healthy food?
Moroccan Couscous is one of my favorite.
And your favorite cheat food?
A Big Mac

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Nelson Mandela. He was such an incredible leader and the epitome of selflessness. What fascinates me most about him was his level of forgiveness, his ability to lead with peace and his capacity to focus on missions beyond himself. That takes such great character and heart. We could all learn from him.
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Living my dreams
How would you describe your fashion style?
Feminine and edgy.
What do you think of Social Media?
I feel so lucky to live in a time where we all have access to social media. Thanks to it, we literally have the world at our fingertips. Social media allows us to share our ideas with a greater audience and to me it represents an unlimited source of inspiration.
