EG’s new Single “Haunted” is out now!
Hi Emily, please tell us a little about you?
My name is Emily Gabriele and I’m a singer-songwriter and performing artist. I grew up in central New Jersey and moved to New York City for 6 years. During the pandemic, seeking more space, I moved back across the Hudson River to Jersey City. I feel a part of the creative culture in New York City and its surrounding area.
I am in the middle of releasing a project titled, Omega Man. I played an album release show at the Bowery Electric on Saturday, April 9 and packed the house. This was my first foray back into performing in front of a live audience since the beginning of 2020.
During the pandemic, I leaned into writing the album, Omega Man, to keep my creativity spry.
I have also actively been writing songs for sync licensing opportunities and have been working on writing & producing bespoke intros/outros for podcasts as of late.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Curious. Thoughtful. Dependable.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Honest gritty New York City. Uh oh, that’s five.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
The people, art, and the world steadily influence me. In terms of musical influences, when I was younger I was an avid listener of Alanis Morissette, The Beatles, John Mayer, and a bunch of 90s pop artists. I chose to make music because it is how I best express myself.
Tell us about your new singles “Haunted,” and “Tobacco Leaves?”
Haunted and Tobacco Leaves were written in the wake of the sudden & tragic passing of my Father. They are both reflections of the immediate period I experienced after his death.
What’s the story behind the songs?
Listen to find out. 😉
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The catharsis of writing is rewarding. The effort of collaborating is bonding. The act of sharing, in hopes to relate and resonate with others, is worthwhile.
And about your album “Omega Man?”
The album Omega Man is an homage to my Father. At his funeral, I learned from one of his life-long friends that his nickname was “Omega Man” – a source of integrity, truth and ethics.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. That’s my best answer for now. Though it may change in the future. Another impactful book I recently read is The Long Game by Dorie Clark.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
Everyone is seeking to be recognized & understood.
What do you think is the secret to have a successful IG account?
It’s a balance between planning out each post and being flexible with what you post. The key word here is POST. Constantly create, share, and engage.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
“Slow down, you crazy child, you’re so ambitious for a juvenile” – Billy Joel 😉
How would your best friend describe you?
I asked some of my best pals, here is what they responded with:
Loyal, honest, trustworthy, generous, understanding, inclusive, patient, creative, curious, hardworking, always going out of my way to be there for loved ones and cool AF.
The most intrinsically motivated person I know, independent thinker, as kind as you are quirky, and despite being the busiest person I know, very thoughtful and considerate of others.
What’s next for Emily Gabriele in 2022?
2022 has a lot lined up. I just played an Album Release Show at the Bowery Electric in the LES of New York City on April 9. We packed the house and had an absolute blast. To follow that up we’ll be playing some shows in and around the New York City Area. Right now we have locked in a show at Heaven Can Wait [fka East Berlin] on June 16, 2022 [ this is unannounced to the general public so far – you’re welcome for the exclusive tidbit!!].
I’m continuously releasing a song from my album every other week until May 27, 2022 when the entire album, Omega Man, will be available wherever you listen to music.
I’m also selling custom-scented Omega Man candles to support the project. You can purchase them HERE.
