Hi Maddie, please tell us a little about you?
Hi, I’m Maddie Glass! I am a pop punk singer/songwriter, actress, and screenwriter! I live in NYC and am finishing up at NYU Tisch Drama!
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Determined, Loyal, Perceptive
How did you get started in the business?
I’ve been writing songs and acting since I was 7, and since then I knew that this was what I wanted to do for my whole life.
How has this changed your life?
It has changed my life in so many ways but mainly it’s given me a purpose and a goal to always reach towards no matter what. The way I make music is almost therapeutic, I write about the things and emotions that I’m dealing with in real time.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
My parents are very musically inclined so I was exposed to it at a young age and just ran with it!
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Witty, energetic, honest
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I am heavily influenced by Avril Lavigne and Green Day! I have been making music since I can remember, but recently I got the courage to start sharing it with the world and I’m really proud of myself for taking that step of vulnerability.
Tell us about your new single “Kiss Your Best Friend?”
I’m so excited for everyone to hear “Kiss Your Best Friend” it’s an upbeat anthemic song that I think so many people can relate to about.
What’s the story behind the song?
I wrote “Kiss Your Best Friend” about all of the feelings right after a blindsiding breakup. Looking for some humor in the swirling of emotions that come with heartbreak, I wanted to poke fun at the situation by writing a song with some “what-if” scenarios to even the score and lighten the mood. While I would never actually revenge kiss an ex’s best friend, although the opportunity tends to arise, the idea is amusing. The lyrics are relatable and it’s a really upbeat breakup song to listen to loud and sing out as you take your power back and realize they weren’t worth the tears after all.
And about the success of “Livin in 2021?”
It is so beyond awesome that people liked “Living in 2021.” Releasing my first song was one of the best decisions I’ve made. To this day I still identify with all of the lyrics in the song and so glad that other people do too.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
I think the most rewarding part is the response people have to my music, but also me being able to make light of difficult situations that I’ve gone through and coming out stronger with something positive on the other side.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
“The Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell
How would your best friend describe you?
“passionate, inspiring, and so grateful to have my as my best friend because you inspire me to be the best and most ambitious artist and woman that I can be everyday.” – my best friend Nyah (this made me tear up haha)
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
To quote my instagram bio, “Mess with me, and I’ll write a song about it.” I love this because I lead with honesty and transparency upfront, and this is how my whole musical journey began.
What’s next for Maddie Glass in 2022?
I’m looking forward to some break out acting roles and releasing so much more music!!
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love so much healthy food but ginger shots, green juice, and smoothie bowls are for sure staples for me.
And your favorite cheat food?
A bagel with lox
How would you explain your fashion style?
I’d say my fashion style ranges from 11 year old boy to a preppy school outfit with no in between.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Feeling fulfilled with the people I have surrounding me and what I’m spending my time doing.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would meet my mom’s grandma. She influenced her so much and my mom is my biggest supporter and favorite person on the planet so it would’ve just been an honor to meet one of her most important people.
Best advice ever given?
I think the best advice I’ve ever been given is from childhood acting teacher who would always tell me to think, “why not me?” Sometimes, succeeding can feel impossible and like an unattainable goal, but it has to work out for someone, so why not you? Also, “why would you want to date someone who doesn’t want to date you?” That advice really helped me speed up a few heartbreaks because if someone doesn’t want you, we don’t want them.
Do you support any charity?
I really support the ASPCA because dogs are so important to me, I have three, and have a goal to help as many dogs as possible.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
In 5 years I hope to be acting on stage and screen, and touring my music!! Hopefully writing happy songs about a nice guy and not about the trash guys I’m writing about now 🙂
Favorite song? Why?
This is so hard!! I really love so many but I think an all time classic for me that I listen to so much is “Dirty Little Secret” by the All American Rejects
