Songwriting is something that Sophia Dashing simply could not live without. Dancing professionally since age eight, signed to performing arts agencies in Atlanta, dancing on national tv shows and singing in local choirs from age six. The stage has always been something that is more than enjoyable for the Atlanta-native artist. Songwriting has been a tool of expressiveness for Dashing since adolescence and is something she’s held closely, to unleash and express the deepest parts of her inner workings and life experiences.
An LGBTQ member, advocate, and intersectional feminist, being a humanitarian is extremely important to Sophia Dashing and will always be inter-connected to her music, as well as spirituality and ultimate self expressiveness.

Hi Sophia, please tell us a little about you?
I’ve been performing, singing and dancing since I was six years old. Everyone knew me as the little girl who couldn’t stop singing and dancing! I would write songs and ask anybody and everybody if they wanted to hear them. I loved being on stage and in front of the camera. I absolutely love to make and write music. It’s what makes the most sense to me in this life as well as performing it and dancing. So grateful that I get to do what I love each and every day and super excited to see all that’s to come with this new music that is coming out!
We recently did an interview together, but wanted to see what’s new in your music career?
I’m currently in rehearsals to perform at Atlanta Pride which is a huge pride festival in Piedmont Park. It’s a big deal and I’m so excited and honored to take the stage. We’re gearing up for a 35 minute show so after this one will be busy performing the show we choreographed in other cities and places as well!
Tell us about your new single “Lonely?”
The track, “Lonely”, feels like a combination of every decade of past pop hits rolled into the future. A perfectly-confident, upbeat, saucy dance-pop hit that explores the story of encountering a new crush and feeling completely infatuated.
What’s the story behind the song?
I met someone after being single for a super long time that triggered the feeling of finally wanting to be with someone again after healing from a heartbreak. They completely infatuated me and really in a way “highlighted” how lonely I was really feeling at the time and how I just wanted to dive deep with all of these new feelings I was having towards this new person.
Are you planning to release a music video too?
Absolutely! I’m so excited for you all to see what we’ve been working on.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part for me is connecting with others. Being a songwriter and ultimately being able to relate and connect with people from all around the world with story-telling and experiences. I’m also healing my inner-child every day I do this so that’s a pretty amazing feeling as well. Following your dreams in general!
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi. It’s a really good book on networking!
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
I’m pretty spiritual, and that’s what’s worked for me thus far in my life and career. I truly believe that everything happens the way it’s supposed to and let faith lead me through everything. I believe in Divine timing and simply trusting in that! I would say holding onto this lesson has gotten me through a lot of difficult and hard times in life and my career.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
To never give up on your dreams and to continue to fuel your passions and what makes you happiest, no matter what anyone says!
How would your best friend describe you?
From my best friend who described me for this question: Sophia is deeply motivated, determined and independent! She is also outgoing, open minded, is always down to try new things and meet new people.
What’s next for Sophia Dashing in the last months of 2022 and for 2023?
Releasing new music, performing in different places, and continuing to find my place in this industry as a new up & coming artist. Discovering my brand/fans more and hopefully traveling the world and connecting with others.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I see myself on a world tour 🙂 That’s a huge dream of mine that I 100% see happening. I can’t wait to tour the world, and to meet new people from different cultures and backgrounds whilst connecting through music. It’s so beautiful to me how music works that way!!
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Baby One More Time by Britney Spears! For sure!
