Check out our interview with rising singer and producer Alaina Pamela, who just released the music video for her single, “Feel You Here.” Alaina Pamela and her husband, Michael Kim-Sheng, co-wrote the song, which is a captivating examination of the feelings that come after a relationship ends. The music video is a story about a breakup, where Alaina is coming to terms with the loss of someone and the ghostly feeling that follows. While they are gone, she continues to feel their presence, reminiscing about the good times. However, in the present, she finds herself encapsulated in a cold and digital atmosphere.
The duo’s third song, “Feel You Here,” was born during the Halloween season as a result of Alaina playing Halloween songs for her husband, who came up with the idea for the song’s beat. Written directly after their first break-up song, “Can’t Be Your Friend,” Alaina and Michael crafted a song that captures the essence of feeling alone after a relationship. Cristian Acevedo is an actor in the Kay Zhang-directed music video, which also features Eris Zhao’s cinematography.

Hi Alaina, please tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a singer and producer from a small country town in Quebec, now living in California.
Describe your sound in three words.
Shimmering, mystical and whimsical
Who influenced you, and why did you choose to make music?
Growing up, I listened to a lot of Celine Dion and she made me want to become a singer. I sang a lot in school, in church and for fun, but it wasn’t until I met my husband that I took music seriously.
Do you play any instruments?
I am currently learning piano skills!
Do you ever get nervous?
Yes, my vocal coach says, if I don’t get nervous anymore, that means I stopped caring. So I guess I care a lot!
Tell us about your new music video for “Feel You Here?”
“Feel You Here” intertwines a story of a breakup through the lens of technology. We see vintage camcorders, AI, CRT televisions telling a vivid story of loss and the ghostly feeling that follows.
What’s the story behind the song?
“Feel You Here” was the 3rd song my producer and I wrote. It came right after “All In My Head,” where we included strings and kept some acoustic elements in the music. “Feel You Here” was our dive into a more electric world, dominated by synthesizers and the beat. The song itself is about the ghostly feeling after the loss of someone close.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Working with people I love and being able to spend time with them to create the music I love.
What advice would you give to your younger self, and why?
To never give up hope. Things will always get better.
What’s next for Alaina Pamela in 2024?
I have an EP in the works! I am spending most of my time writing with my producer!
What is your own definition of happiness?
Happiness is when you feel truly at peace.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Celine Dion. I have so many reasons! She is a true inspiration as a person and as a singer.
Best advice ever given?
Live and let live.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years?
Hopefully, I can tour! I’d love to be a touring artist and I think 5 years is a good amount of time to reach my goals. Touring would give me the ability to share my music to the world.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car or for karaoke?
Anything Disney!
What do you think of social media?
I think social media is a double edged sword. It requires a lot out of a person and never yields predictable results. But it can also be a great way to reflect and see where you’re going and where you’ve come from. I like to make posts that are a mix of funny and meaningful and that gives me a chance to keep it fresh, but also serve a bit as a diary.
