I would describe myself as Loving, Caring, and Silly.
Name one your strengths?
Creativity.
What is your musical background?
I have always loved playing music, when I was in second grade something just kind of drew me to the guitar. I wanted to learn how to play because I thought it would be fun and I started taking lessons. Since then I started singing and even getting into music production.
Do you play any instrument?
Yes, I play acoustic guitar.
Do you ever get nervous?
I do, I get really nervous whenever I’m next to someone I really like. 🙂
Now tell us about your hit singles “Somebody,” “Without You” and “Nervous?”
Somebody, Nervous, and Without You are three of the songs that I released. It was an amazing experience to be able to be apart of the production / writing process. I feel that they are each a pretty good and accurate representation about the way that I was feeling at that time in my life.
What inspires you to do new music?
Honestly, music itself does. I feel that music is just such a powerful thing, it lets you express yourself no matter how you are feeling in a way that is even more powerful than words alone. When you play something on a guitar or sing a song it feels like you just let everything out that is on your mind and or in your heart. Even if it’s not one of your own songs and your doing a cover, you take that song and make it your own by just well… expressing yourself. To me that is just the best feeling ever.
What’s the best and hardest part of being a musician?
The best part is being able to express yourself in a creative way. And honestly, I don’t think there is really a hard part about being a musician, that is the best thing ever I feel. Now I think once it crosses over into like a business aspect that’s where things get kind of complicated because you have to go through things like copyrights, royalties, and we’ll just a whole bunch of stuff that is super boring. The music is the fun part.
Best advice ever given?
Don’t be so hard on yourself. I put a lot of expectations on myself because I always want to do the best I can do no matter what I’m doing, wether is school or music, if I’m passionate about it I want to take it all the way and give it my all. A few people saw how much I was putting myself through and how it was effecting me emotionally, they brought it up and we’ll all kind of said the same thing at the end. And that was “don’t be so hard on yourself.” I didn’t really take it to heart or let it sink in the first couple times I heard it, but after a while I kind of let really thought about it for a minute. I feel a lot of times we might be harder on ourselves then we would if we were talking to a friend or family member. Like I would never tell someone that their work isn’t good enough, but I will easily say that to myself. That saying “we are our own worst critic.” Is so true.
What’s your favorite show on T.V. right now?
YouTube. Haha, I really don’t watch tv. I watch YouTube whenever I have free time or before bed. I live watching people like David Dobrik, James Charles, and a lot of health and fitness youtubers like Nic Palladino. But there are honestly so many people that I like to watch.
What do you do when you have some free time?
I love getting a massage! It is so relaxing.
What is on your bucket list?
I want to go to New York one day and go skydiving! Or maybe go skydiving in New York! That would be amazing.
How would your best friend describe you?
Loud and sarcastic. But in a good way. Haha. I come across as pretty soft spoken sometimes, but when I’m with my close friends we get really loud when we laugh and we always like to pick on each other, it’s honestly just the funniest thing ever to us.
What quote do you live by?
There’s a few. “You Gotta Work.” Or “I grind till I own it.” “Life Is A Blessing” and “every day is a good day.” “You gotta work” comes from a Britney Spears song and “I grind till I own it” comes from a Beyoncé song. They both kind of remind me that if there is something in life you want you have to earn it, whether it is in school, the gym, or whatever it may be, I often times look at it with a you get out what you put in kind of view. Life is a blessing reminds me of how even though things might get hard or something might happen that feels like it is the end of the world, I just try and remember how life is a blessing and that there are so many beautiful and amazing things that happen in life, I try and remember to not let one bad thing get in that way of so many other amazing things that have either happened or are to come. Life really is a journey and It can be fun just to enjoy the ride sometimes. Almost like a roller coaster, it goes up and down, turns left and right, It had its fun moments and might even have a few scary parts or might even break down from time to time, But it gets back on track and keeps going. And then every day is a good day reminds me of how even on the worst days there is always one positive that comes out of it. Sometimes it can just be hard to see at first, but when you really think about it or look back on it in the future, you can always find something gained from it.
Your idea of a perfect Sunday?
A perfect Sunday for me would be one that has sushi or ice cream in it. 🙂 seriously, it doesn’t take much to make me happy. But probably one where I get to spend time with family and do something relaxing, like get a massage or watch YouTube.
What’s next for Tyler Gomez in 2019?
NEW MUSIC!!! I’m super excited to release my next song, there is not a confirmed date yet, but I’m going to be releasing a new song soon. So I’m super excited!
Something people don’t know about you?
Bananas and raspberries are my favorite fruits! Honestly, I’m pretty open as a person so there isn’t really much that people who know me don’t know. 🙂 if someone wants to know something I literally don’t hold back, I’ll tell them everything and then some. :p
What is your own definition of happiness?
Happiness to me is doing something you love or something that feels like it’s the right thing to do. It’s something that feels rewarding. I feel that it could come from so many things wether it’s giving back to someone, helping, or even playing your favorite sport or video game. I think happiness looks different for everyone, but I feel we all get satisfaction from whatever it is. Or if it’s a person that makes us happy, we’ll we still feel something from them, usually love. 🙂
How would you describe your fashion style?
Back Jeans, Converse, and a Hoodie. Haha, that’s honestly what I wear a lot, that or maybe a jacket. With a black or white T-shirt under it. So comfortable is how I would describe it. 🙂
What is your favorite healthy food?
My Breakfast is probably my favorite healthy meal/food, which is oatmeal with chocolate hazelnut protein powder, raspberries, and chia seeds. I literally have that pretty much every single morning and it is the best thing on the planet to me. I usually change out the flavor of protein powder and fruit every now and then but my go to is definitely raspberries with a chocolate hazelnut protein powder.
And your favorite cheat food?
I try and not label foods as good or bad and just incorporate them in my everyday diet, but hand roled ice cream is something I don’t have everyday, so probably that. There is this one place that sells it as a Sunday and they put chocolate & caramel sauce, a giant toasted marshmallow, gram crackers, and a chocolate pocky stick on it and it is literally the most amazing thing ever, it’s just like straight up sugar overload. Haha. That or a boba tea with pearls. Oh! But salt and straw is good too and so is sprinkles cup cakes. But I mean I try and not tell myself that I can’t have something, I like to eat pretty healthy like a majority of the time. So it’s totally fine to enjoy something every now and then.
What music do you like?
I love pop music and a little bit of hip hop. But I’m more into pop. I love artist like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, The Weekend, Ed Sheeren and we’ll so many more. But I also like to listen to hip hop every now and then and a lot when I workout. I love artist like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Migos, Logic, and Post Malone. I like some EDM stuff too every now and then.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
BEYONCÉ!!! I mean wouldn’t you want to meet the queen as well??? Haha. No but seriously, I love Beyoncé so much and would honestly pass out if I met her. She inspires me so much and I just love her music.
How important is Social Media for you?
I actually really like social media, it really does connect us because even though someone might be across the world you can still see what they are up to and talk to them just by sending them a DM, watching their stories, or even just scrolling down your feed and seeing the selfie they took at Coachella.
