Hi Francis, please tell us a little about you?
Hello! I am 20 years old, I grew up in a very small town in Romania, more precisely with 2 boulevards and that’s about it. 🙂 I recently moved to Bucharest to continue my musical career. I compose my songs and try to transpose my feelings through music because my art is truly a reflection of my own persona.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Melancholic, young, and nostalgic.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I think I was influenced by my father’s passion for music, although he doesn’t have a vocal talent, he has a musical ear, and in our house we always listen to music. Everything started very naturally. I was always singing when J was home without realizing that I could have potential in this sense, but I was noticed by my parents, who encouraged me to take vocal lessons and later to go to competitions.
Do you play any instrument?
I write most of my songs on the piano, a piano I’ve had for almost 10 years.
Do you ever get nervous?
Most of the time, I start to get emotional a few hours before entering the stage, but those emotions always turn out to be constructive.
Tell us about your new single, “This Is My Time?”
“This is My Time” is an anthem about embracing your inner child, and it has the upbeat instrumentation to match.This track is about enjoying the freedom of your adult life and try to make the most of every day. Try to focus on the good in others and see the glass as half full, not half empty.
What’s the story behind the song?
Well, the story behind “This is my time” is very special for me. I’ve wrote every verse crying and longing for childhood, until I realized that it’s ok to be a child at any age, I just needed to learn how to embrace my inner child and I tried to transpose this feeling through my song.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
My heart melts when I see messages from people who tell me that they resonate with my music and that they identify with it and I think this is the most rewarding part of my work, my music, being on people’s minds.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
Don’t believe everything you think.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
I would tell my young self to live her adolescence to the fullest because those years of puberty do not compare to any other stage in life and I would also tell her that the boy she had a crush on for 4 years is not going to be her husband.
How would your best friend describe you?
Me and my best friend are 2 extremes. She is a calm, rational, gentle, sensitive person and she would definitely use the antonyms of these characteristics in my description.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Live fast, die hot.
What’s next for Francis On My Mind in the last months of 2023 and for 2024?
I plan to release as much content as possible, write a lot of music and then release an album. Also, my next release, which will take place in January 2024 is my first song in Romanian and I’m very excited about it.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Poke bowls. I’m obsessed.
And your favorite cheat food?
Pasta quatro formagi with a lot of parmesan or burger with all possible sauces.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I don’t have a specific style when it comes to fashion. I like to wear anything, I love very loose oversized clothes but also fitted clothing items that reveal a little of the body, to leave room for curiosity. But one thing is clear, I love to wear black or silver clothes.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Waking up thinking you’re late for class and then realizing it’s Saturday.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Michael Jackson for sure.I would have loved to write a song together, to combine our musical styles.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
I would like to go to Bali for a few weeks, without a phone, to disconnect from everything alongside my girlfriends.
Best advice ever given?
Take time to enjoy life.Smile often.
Do you support any charity?
No.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Hopefully, I see myself performing on a huge stage in front of tens of thousands of people singing my songs with me.
