Hi Gabriella, please tell us a little about you?
I am a 23 year old singer/songwriter from Dallas, TX. I have been singing/performing since I was 7 and started taking my career seriously at 12.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Headstrong, Honest, Determined
How did you get started in the business?
I have always loved music and grew up around the world of music. My dad is a drummer in a British invasion band and I always watched him play. But I wanted to become a singer and take that route instead.
How has this changed your life?
It has shown me the strength I truly possess within myself. You can get told no simply on how you look. It’s hard to not take it personally but you learn quickly to take no for the next yes.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I fell in love with music from my dad but I also owe my love for music to the show Hannah Montana. I remember watching the show and telling my mom that will be me someday.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Raw, unique, lyric based
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I was influenced by Hannah Montana aka Miley Cyrus and music just always felt right. It never felt like a dream that was out of reach. It always felt like something I was destined for.
Do you play any instrument?
I play the piano and have taken 10 years of lessons. I am still learning everyday how to become better at my instrument. It’s hard to play an instrument and sing at the same time. That is something I am working on bettering myself at.
Do you ever get nervous?
Of course I do, I think nerves means you care about that certain situation. You want to do well but I have been able to use that energy towards my performance. It took awhile to turn my nerves into a way to better my performance. But it’s something you can learn overtime and perfect.
Tell us about your new single “Paranoid”?
This single was inspired by the music I was listening to during the pandemic. I think it gave us all time to slow down and take a beat. I started to listen to more punk pop music like MGK, anything with Travis Barker, JXDN, etc. I came to my producer saying I wanted to do a pop punk song but still stay true to my pop side.
What’s the story behind the song?
I wanted to write a song about my mental health struggles. I have always been honest with my mental health and have never tried to hide it. I grew up looking at someone like Demi Lovato who shared their struggles so unapologetically. They are just such an inspiration to me and I want to be that for someone like they were for me.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding feeling is having someone tell me that they can relate to my music and my lyrics. Music has always been something I have run to during any point in my life. It seems like a long lost friend and will always be there for me.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
I would say the best book I have ever read was “The Alchemist”. It’s all about manifesting your goals and looking for those signs you are on the right page. My mom has always said “what you say about is what you bring about”. This means what you put out in the universe is what comes back to you.
What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?
The best lesson I have learned is the next no could be the next yes. This means don’t give up before you get that yes, you never know how close you are to that finish line.
How would your best friend describe you?
I think they would say I am very strong with my morals, I am loyal, I have a big heart and I know what I want. I will fight tooth and nail for my friends and family. I will always be there no matter what.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Everything happens for a reason and it’s my affirmation I live by. It has helped me through my darkest moments in my life.
What’s next for Gabriella Stella for 2022?
Something is in the works but I can’t give too much away. But I will say new music is on the way so be prepared for that.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I am actually vegan so everything I eat is pretty healthy. But I love eating apples and peanut butter for a snack and oatmeal for breakfast.
And your favorite cheat food?
My cheat food is any vegan candy like Sour Patch kids, gummies etc. I have such a sweet tooth so I am always baking vegan goodies.
How would you explain your fashion style?
My fashion style changes with my mood and how I feel physically that day.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness is simple, do what fulfills you and leave behind what doesn’t. You can hold onto so much and you don’t realize until sometimes it’s too late. I have been working on forgiving myself and being more gentle with my emotions.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Freddie Mercury or Selena Quintanilla. They are such icons and I could learn so much from them. They were able to make moves in their career that changed the industry forever.
Best advice ever given?
I would say the best advice I have been given is don’t focus on other people’s journeys. Everyone has our own journey and different hurdles to take on in life. It is easy to get discouraged and feel frustrated in your journey. But we all have experienced different things to make us the way we are.
Do you support any charity?
Of course, I am a blessed person and if I could help anyone I will. I am always looking out for others and wanting the best for others.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I would love to have a gold plaque of one of my songs and have a couple tours under my belt by then. I am just so excited for the future of my music and what’s to come with my career.
Favorite song? Why?
Not sure why this came to mind but I love my girl by The Temptations. I could listen to that song over and over and never be tired of it.
What do you think of Social Media?
I love social media, I will admit sometimes a little too much. I am getting better about not being there all the time. But it does help my career so I can’t be too unplugged. But you have to create a good balance.
