Hi Avaah, please tell us a little about you
Hey! I’m a tall Canadian chick that likes to kick butt on screen, recite monologues, walk runways and go on various adventures.
Describe yourself in 3 words
Fun, intense, empathetic.
How did you get started into acting?
Drumheller passion play at six-years old. Look it up, it’s a hilarious and kinda awesome thing. Dinosaurs and Jesus. I’m not even joking.
What is the best and also most challenging part of being an actress?
Navigating the roller coaster ride of it all.
Tell us about your work in “Star Trek Discovery?”
Basically, If they need an alien, I’m there.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
If Deadpool and Trinity (Matrix) had a baby, and then it grew up to be a 6ft tall mercenary. Why? Because that’s awesome. Female Ace Ventura. Why? Because that’s also awesome. Immortal orc slaying beautiful lady elf in the new Lord of the Rings series, so my inner 13 year old can finally be fulfilled. Female Bond. and have a bunch of sexy bond girls, boys and non binaries kicking butt with me. Female Joker. Because absolutely yes, please.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Avocados.
And your favorite cheat food?
Avocados con tacos.
How would you explain your fashion style?
Eclectic. Athletic meets couture topped off with my favourite vintage find.
How would your best friend describe you?
I don’t know. Ask them!
What’s next for Avaah Blackwell in the last months of 2020?
Pfft. That is ANYONE’S GUESS. 2020, what you got for me bro? Global apocalypse aside, I’m working on three different productions at the moment. Which is awesome.
What is your own definition of happiness?
The pursuit of it.
What is a day in your life like?
Really depends if I’m stunt doubling, heading to the runway or photoshoot, auditioning, training, preparing for a role, acting or catching up on life. It’s all very fast paced and changing constantly.
What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?
Wake up earlyish without an alarm, go for a run, come back for tea and head out on some sort of adventure with a friend or two (Hiking, biking, climbing, firing range, ect) come back, have a nice dinner and do a bit of planning for my week ahead. Watch something mind blowing. Call someone from my family to tell them I love them, meditate, head to bed.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
OOOO. Love it. Nikola Tesla for sure. Cause he’s awesome. I’d tell him to stop trusting the wrong people though. Bro, Pigeon love aside, we need your free world wide energy source. Edison isn’t your friend. Put the soda cracker down, and lets’ get to it. (I hope someone out there gets this convo)
Best advice ever given?
“Nothing before it’s time” from Stacey McKenzie and “Never be in awe of anyone” from David Julian Hirsh
Do you support any charities?
Pretty much anything The Rotary Club does I try to support, and my sister is an active part of Ducks Unlimited which I do my best to support as well.
Name 3 things you can’t live without?
Training, Family, Friends
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Hard to say with the current global climate, but hopefully Ryan Reynolds answers my call and we can make a female Deadpool/Trinity in the Matrix mash up. RYAN! Answer a girl!!! Also, I would love to get a role in the new Lord of the Rings series!!! Hopefully I’ll be in a better position to help out other cool artists and entrepreneurs doing their best to make the world a better place.
Favorite song? Why?
Ayeeee too many to count. Different songs for different moods. Favourite album is Lateralus by TOOL. All the feels. Nostalgic.
What do you think of Social Media?
That’s a whole other interview right there. I think it’s an incredibly powerful tool, and we should use it consciously, which many of us don’t. I’m guilty of that. David Attenborough does a great job. Let’s all be more like David.
Where can we follow you?
Not down the street. I may kick out of reflex. JK. (kinda)
