Check out our interview with stunning Canadian actress Jordana Lajoie.
Jordana is quickly making a name for herself through the dynamic characters she has brought to life on stage and screen. Jordana can be seen as the mysterious Cherie in Amazon’s dark action series “The Boys,” opposite Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Chace Crawford. The series debuted in 2019, and follows a group of vigilantes set out to take down corrupt superheroes who abuse their superpowers. Critics and audiences alike were instantly drawn to the series, being called “enjoyable” by The New York Times, “a bandwagon well worth jumping on” by TV Guide, and “an absolutely bonkers superhero show in the best way” by IGN.
While theatre remains her first love, Jordana wanted to focus more on the film and television side. She went on to star in the short film “Morning After” which premiered at the Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival, winning the grand prize Flickers’ Ambassador Award. Jordana was a standout and dubbed a ‘scene-stealer’ in the film. On the television front, Jordana starred as Shannon Lemieux, the American wife of Patrice Lemieux, in KOTV’s French Québec series “Patrice Lemieux 24/7.” The series follows Montreal’s superstar hockey player Patrice Lemieux as he rejoins his hometown team after spending 10 years in the United States. Additional credits include: Amazon’s “Zoe,” Crackle’s “The Art of More,” Hallmark Channel’s “A Gingerbread Romance,” Raging Rooster Film’s “The Office Games,” and Lifetime’s “My Mother’s Split Personality.”

Describe yourself in 3 words
A solitary maverick.
Who is your role model?
There are a lot of people I look up to, both men and women. The women in my life however, especially my late grandmother on my mum’s side, have been beacons of light whenever I felt lost.
How did you get started into acting?
I took some classes in my teens but did not get serious about it until my early twenties.
How has this changed your life?
Acting has allowed me to let those walls down and be the rawest version of myself, it has changed my life in many positive ways.
What is the best and worst part about being an actor?
The best part for me is no doubt the connections that you make on set. The powerful moments you live when you’re in the moment are also truly magical. Personally, there hasn’t been more exciting feedback than when I found myself on stage working with an ensemble, and having the audience react in the moment. Love would be the only thing that beats this feeling, for me.
The worst part about being an actor in my experience is how people may sometimes box you in one category and assume that box is the one you should belong in forever. Ironic, since acting is a profession that should allow you to play all sorts of interesting characters.
Tell us about your work in Amazon’s dark action series The Boys?
It was a beautiful ride, and the people behind this project are truly amazing. The Boys was probably my favorite production to be a part of to date.
What kind of roles do you like or would like to play and why?
I love a little variety, so I would love to go back to comedy or period pieces. So far, I’ve played period pieces for Theatre but never Film.
What other projects you have been part of?
A long list of projects that I am sure if enumerated on here would bore you to death.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
There’s nothing more rewarding than telling someone else’s story through your work, and sometimes you’re lucky enough to have someone come up to you and say thank you. It is strange but also beautiful and pure.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I have an incredible amount of roasted bell peppers kept in jars in my home. When my friends come over, they sometimes find it odd when I offer them some of my roasted bell peppers. I’m not bothered by it in the least, I can eat those bad boys all day, and if they want to join me, they join me.
And your favorite cheat food?
Chocolate. When you melt it, cut up some nice fruits, dip them in the big bowl of melted chocolate, and of course, lie to yourself about how healthy your diet is. Definition of happiness. Including champagne.
How would you explain your fashion style?
Athletic-chic with a splash of darkness.
How would your best friend describe you?
Cheeky, and perhaps misunderstood.
Whats next for Jordana Lajoie in the last months of 2020?
I daresay more writing, and of course more interruptions too.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Being surrounded by those you love, and of course doing what you love.
How is a normal day in your life?
My life is a little more restricted now that we’re living in a global pandemic. My restricted lifestyle consists of: meditation, reading, listening to podcasts, taking pictures or sketching, eating, catching up with my mum, more listening to podcasts, walking outside in nature, horseback riding if lucky, attempts at writing, interruptions, and more attempts at writing, and I end my day with meditation.
What is your idea of a perfect Sunday?
Beautiful sunny day or rainy day surrounded by those I love, watching the beautiful view of nature from my home while drinking hot cocoa in peace. Sounds like an Ikea ad.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Maggie Smith. She just radiates sass and kindness. I would have loved to play opposite her in Downton Abbey. I only started watching the show a year or so ago, and I’m slightly obsessed with Aunt Violet.
Best advice ever given?
Don’t doubt yourself.
Do you support any charity?
Doctors Without Borders, Plan Canada, Amnesty International and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Name 3 things you can’t live without?
My glasses, music, and my baseball cap.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Hopefully still alive surrounded by the people I love. As for my career, I just hope it keeps getting more interesting. I would hate for it to be boring; I’ll have to quit if it ever does. I do see myself directing.
Favorite song? Why?
There are many favorite songs from different genres; I’m always conflicted when asked these types of questions. Listen to “Seamonkey” by Moderat, you’ll love it.
What music do you like?
I could listen to anything from the Pharcyde, to Philip Glass, to Blind Guardian, to Vivaldi. I do not think there is any purer art form than music.
What do you think of Social Media?
I don’t think it’s healthy for anyone, but I do see how it can create opportunities for some.
Where can we follow you?
Ironically, all the social medias. I’m not particularly active on them, however. @jordanalajoie
