Can you describe your journey into the world of modeling, starting at the age of 16? What inspired you to pursue a career in modeling?
I was discovered in my hometown of Lviv, and I had never considered modeling before. The agency that found me offered a contract with my first international agency in Milan. After my initial trip, I realized this was a unique opportunity that had come into my life, and I knew I had to seize it.
How did your experiences in Milan and Paris after high school graduation shape your career as an international model?
From the very beginning, I worked a lot while also learning the ropes of the industry during my time in Milan and Paris after high school graduation. This gave me a strong foundation for my career, which eventually led me to New York.
You’ve been part of numerous campaigns for various brands. Could you share some highlights and memorable experiences from your campaigns with brands like 7 for All Mankind, Hudson Jeans, and Bourjois Mascara?
Being a part of these campaigns was a great experience. Among these, the most memorable for me was the Hudson Jeans campaign, where I had to act and share a real kiss on set, pushing me out of my comfort zone.
Being based in New York City, how has the city influenced your approach to modeling and your career in the fashion industry?
I adore New York. It’s often described as the center of the universe, and it has significantly shaped my modeling career and personal growth. The city is tough, but it has made me a stronger and more resilient individual.
Which magazines or cover shoots have been the most memorable or personally significant for you, and why?
One of my most cherished memories is shooting for the cover of Grazia Magazine. The energy on set was incredible, and we had a lot of fun, resulting in beautiful pictures.
You’ve walked the runway for prestigious fashion shows. Can you tell us about your experiences and favorite moments from runway shows such as Vivienne Westwood and Oscar de La Renta Bridal?
Walking the runway is a unique and special experience. While the preparation may not always be enjoyable, being on the runway feels extraordinary. Meeting Vivienne Westwood and working with someone so recognized in the industry was a significant achievement that I truly appreciated.
From your extensive experience in lookbooks and e-commerce, what differences do you find between runway modeling and modeling for catalogs or online platforms?
The difference between runway modeling and modeling for catalogs or online platforms is substantial. While many models may not find e-commerce or catalog work as creatively fulfilling, it provides stability in the industry.
What are some challenges you’ve faced in the modeling industry, and how have you overcome them?
The modeling industry presents numerous challenges, particularly on a mental level. What has helped me most is learning to separate my identity as a person from my role as a model and not taking rejection personally. Developing a thick skin is essential.
How do you prepare for a modeling gig, whether it’s a runway show, a photoshoot, or a commercial?
Preparing for a modeling gig, whether it’s a runway show, photoshoot, or commercial, involves taking care of oneself physically and mentally. This includes getting enough rest, working out, maintaining good nutrition, and sometimes indulging in beauty treatments.
Can you share some insights into your creative process when collaborating with photographers, designers, or stylists for a shoot or campaign?
The creative process in collaboration with photographers, designers, or stylists depends on the team and the project’s inspiration and references. It’s about fulfilling the client’s goals while infusing your unique perspective. Teamwork brings it all together.
In the rapidly evolving fashion industry, how do you stay updated and adapt to changing trends and technologies?
I don’t follow trends. Staying true to my personal style is essential. While my style has evolved over the years, it’s crucial to remain authentic to yourself in everything you do.
What advice would you give to aspiring models looking to establish themselves in the industry, based on your own journey and experiences?
To aspiring models, I would advise making the most of every opportunity that comes their way. Stay professional and be kind to the people you work with; it can make a significant difference in achieving success.
How important do you believe social media and online presence are for models in today’s industry? How do you use these platforms to enhance your career?
The fashion industry has changed significantly with the rise of social media. It’s now crucial to have an online presence. I strive to show my personality while staying authentic and relatable to my followers.
Can you talk about any philanthropic or charitable work you’re involved in or passionate about outside of modeling?
I’ve attended many charity events since the start of the war in Ukraine, doing everything within my power to support this cause.
Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations for the future of your modeling career? Are there specific projects or collaborations you’re excited about?
I’m open to what the future holds for my modeling career. I have some exciting shoots coming up, so stay tuned.
