Hi Maria, please tell us a little about you?
Hello! I am a model, winner of Miss Europe 2017 and currently working in beauty industry as a medical aesthetician.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Ambitious, caring and loving person.
Name one your strengths?
My biggest strength I believe is that I have no fear, always want to achieve my goal no matter what.
Best advice ever given?
Find your passion and follow it. Because in the end of the day you will feel happy by doing what you love and then money will follow.
Who has been the biggest influence on your life?
I would say books that I have read (which is a lot), people that I have met, and my own life experience has most influence for my future actions.
How and when did you start into modeling?
I was 14 years old when I was spotted by local agency on social media. But I started to get proper modeling jobs at 16-17 years old.
What is fun and rewarding about modeling? And what is not?
The most rewarding thing about modeling is being able to travel and meet so many great people. The hardest thing is to be apart from your family, being surrounded by strangers in the different culture, and working during holidays.
What did you learn from your biggest failure?
I do not have failure; I believe there is only lessons and it shape me who am I today.
The most important thing when you are shooting is?
Understanding purpose of the shoot, being part of the team.
What’s your advice for the newer models?
Do not listen if someone tells you that you too short, to tall, too much of this or too little of that. If you feel it is your place to do modeling, don’t give up.
What projects you have been part of?
The project I am most proud of because of its importance in my life was doing Miss Europe World beauty pageant.
What would say are the greatest lessons you learned so far in this business?
The modeling business is like any other business. Some days everyone wants to work and collaborate with you. Other days no one remembers you. It forces you to take chances because maybe tomorrow, there might not be the opportunity again tomorrow.
Tell us about the feeling of winning the Miss Europe World 2017?
It felt like my biggest dream came true. I could not sleep for 3 days after the pageant. I just could not believe I did the pageant after weeks of preparation and just like that it was over. It was an intense 4 weeks, and it took all of my energy. When I finally got to look at the crown at home, I felt over the moon!
Now tell us about your work as Aesthetician and working in the UK Channel Five reality show clinic “Vinci Kensington by Dr. Ducu?”
I want to tell you more but we’re keeping things hush. The pandemic halted our work, though we intend on revealing more later this year.
What are your next goals as an Aesthetician?
Get as much as possible experience and parlay that to become the best aesthetician in London.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
A classic book – “Think and grow rich” by Napoleon Hill. I recent read “Shoe dog Phil Knight” by Warren Buffett, which I found quite inspiring.
What actor/actress do you admire the most, and why?
I absolutely love Nicole Kidman! I could watch her movies and tv series endlessly.
She hypnotizes me with her talent. I’m almost certain I have watched all of her work.
What’s next for Maria Slusnyte in 2021?
I hope Vinci Kensington by Dr. Ducu goes into action later in the year. I also purchased a new home recently. I’ve decided to renovate it before moving in, so that’s going to take a bit of time before it’s move-in ready.
Which project is still on your bucket list?
I want to earn a a Doctor’s degree in 1-2 years time.
In five years from now, where do you see yourself and your career?
I’d want to have established my own cosmetic line and to open a beauty clinic in London.
Now you are a big influencer on Social Media, can you share some tips for keeping your account interesting?
I always try to post something different. I prefer quality then quantity when it comes to social media. I hate posting content for content’s sake. Let’s have creative, inspiring images.
You are followed by so many people. How do you feel about that pressure of doing always the right thing, and encourage people to follow their dreams?
I cannot be likable by everyone and I will not even try. I used to share a lot of jokes on my Instagram but there were so many negative comments, I just stopped. At the end of the day, I just wanted to make people laugh.
The best example to motivate people to do right in the world is to show them by your work. Support them and help if anyone needs it.
What is your favourite healthy food?
A green smoothie every morning. If I cook for myself, my favourite is grilled white fish with green vegetables. Also, I eat buckwheat couple times a week.
And your favourite cheat food?
Vegan burger with sweet french fries and glass of red wine. And of course, chocolate.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Happiness is when my mind and body are in harmony. I am in control of my mind and emotions.
What is your workout routine these days?
I love running 4-5 time a week, 30-45 mins a day. Sometimes I add 30 mins of weights lifting or swimming in addition to that. I recently began to do yoga, which makes me feel great.
How would your best friend describe you?
My best friend had this to say about me:
“Maria is a very carrying and sensitive person. Always giving and thinking about others happiness and feelings. She is hard working and pushes herself to achieve her goals.”
Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
I’ve spent a lot of my lifetime around beautiful women, who all add something inspiring and unique to the table. To pick one would be impossible!
I bet you get millions of it, but what are the best and worst Instagram DM pickup lines you received so far?
There have been some fairly odd messages on Instagram. One young guy kept asking me to marry him for over a year. The rest I don’t want to put out into the world out of respect to my fans.
What does fashion mean to you?
My world is beauty and the aesthetic form. Fashion is important to me, but it’s a look, not a brand. I’ll wear classy, tidy, simple clothes, over the latest collection.
Who are some of your favourite models and designers, and why?
My favorite models are Kendal Jenner, Candice Swanepoel, and Irina Shayk. They are absolutely gorgeous, inspirational, and never make things political.
My favourite summerwear designer is Zimmermann because of their colours and designs. For winter, I enjoy wearing Nanushka, Chanel, and Balmain.
How would you explain your fashion style and what items in your closet can you not be without?
When I go out to a gala or event (pre-covid) I could never go without wearing a dress, or silk shirt and black trousers/skirt with beautiful heels. For every day life, I’m quite simple – jeans and colourful t shirt.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
That would be my godfather, who died when a young child. I never got to know him much. My last memory with him was him teaching me to play piano. Would love to go back to that moment.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
I love traveling! It is a big part of my life! There is so many place I want to visit after the pandemic. Japan, Honk Kong, the Himalayas, India, south east asian and south pacific islands like Bora Bora and Seychelles. I’d want to visit with my family.
What do you like to watch on Tv?
I never watch regular TV. I just use Netflix to watch true crime stories and documentaries.
What music do you like?
It depends on my mood. Techno, house, sometimes pop.
Do you support any charity?
Yes, I donate to a children’s hospital and dog shelter. During Covid, I have been volunteering to deliver food and medication to old and sick people.
3 things you can’t leave home without?
My phone, my lip gloss, and credit card.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
My ideal Sunday is being on the beach with family or friends, cocktails in hand, lots of laughing and smiling.
