We are so excited to hear your new single CAN’T SLEEP! What’s the story behind the song?
I was in a long term relationship. I felt the relationship was one sided my last song ‘ happy ever after all ‘ the lyrics are questioning whether it was going to work out. Well the nights we argued ( usually because of my insecurities) I could not sleep at all and it didn’t bother her she slept just fine. So one of the nights to get rid of the knot in my stomach I wrote this song music always helps me. Unfortunately the relationship ended which resulted in even more restless nights for me.
What is your dream venue to perform the song?
I want to perform it around the world, it has a great chant feel that everyone could scream. I live in Las Vegas so the Allegiant stadium would be amazing but I’m a British boy so have to say Wembley stadium is the dream.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
Jon Bellion is my hero so he’d definitely be first but Stevie Wonder is a very close second. I was brought up with soul.
As a popular artist and influencer you are followed by so many people. How do you feel about that pressure of doing always the right thing, and encourage people to follow their dreams?
I honestly don’t think anyone is perfect and we all have to realize mistakes are made. I do tend to be smart with the decisions I make. I’m 23 now, I don’t drink alcohol or like the feeling of not having control which helps. I am so dedicated to music and my career and that’s the message I try to give. Find something you love and make that your crutch.
When you started your Social Media accounts, did you expected such a success?
Definitely not at all. Once I saw the possibilities and some good results I became more obsessed and determined. I think consistency is key.
Is it difficult to come up with new content?
I am so creative and have a weird creative process. My team beg me to have a list of ideas and a backup of content but I don’t work like that I have to be in the moment. I think of an idea on the spot film and post.
What do you think is the secret to have a successful IG/TikTok account?
Consistency and hard work. You get out what you put in
What are the greatest lessons you learned so far being in the Entertainment Industry?
I probably shouldn’t answer this but I can’t help been honest. My greatest lesson is to stay are you own path, stick to the plan. So many times I have had people approach me offering me the dream so because they are celebrities or VIP’s I stop my path and wait for them then nothing happens. So sticking to your own plan is essential.
Again another important lesson is be true to who you are I did pranks for a long time on TikTok during covid which did well and I am a prankster but music was my passion and I didn’t post enough music now I’m catching up with that I wish I’d done that throughout the building of my TikTok.
What advice would you give to your younger self and why?
Listen to your mom she’s always right.
How would your best friend describe you?
Talented, generous, hyperactive actually the hyperactive probably first.
If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?
Relentless, I just had this tattooed on my neck. One word to describe me, because I wont stop. If I want something I will keep hustling and working till I get it.
What’s next for Mackenzie Sol in the last months of 2023?
No 1 hits and touring. Looking at touring with winter lights in November and December.
I’m hoping to do some charity work with mental heath organizations in January. I have a single “Anxiety” coming out which I’m hoping will help a lot of people.
How would you explain your fashion style?
My step dad thinks I’m color blind and says I look like a Kaleidoscope ha ha. I think I’m cool and I do like to wear bright colors. I’ve got to be honest I do prefer to present my personality over my style I’m not really materialistic.
What is your own definition of happiness?
No stress and worries. Good health and success.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Jon Bellion because he’s a musical genius and if someone dead of course Michael Jackson. I’ve actually worked with a lot of people that worked with Michael that say in a recording studio I remind them of him for needing perfection.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
That’s really tough I would have said anywhere with my ex. Now I just want to stay home and focus on music this heartbreak has made my music so much better.
Best advice ever given?
Don’t give up.
Do you support any charity?
I do a few. If you care share is a suicide awareness foundation very close to my heart. I lost my cousin to suicide he was only 19 and his/ my family set up this charity to help others. Friedreich’s ataxia my uncle suffers from this crippling disease. I’d do anything to see his condition improve.
I really want to get involved with mental health work and teens that suffer from anxiety. I have anxiety and it’s so hard to deal with. Music has helped me I really want to help others. I’d love to go round schools offering help. I’m not sure how to make this happen but it’s on my bucket list for sure.
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
Obviously I want to be a world wide superstar.
This is definitely the goal and my first focus always. Also like I said I’m hoping to may have my own charity helping teens with mental health or at least be involved with this.
I’d also like to broaden my writing career and start writing and helping others. When my mom and I moved to America we had no clue and did it all from scratch from the bottom with no help. I wish I’d had a me to help, we had so many road blocks and made mistakes. We want to help people avoid this and reach their goals faster if I can. You could check out my new website ustarempire.com
