Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Definitely my dad. Growing up I watched him pursue his dreams and his passion projects. I grew up around a lot of his music and both acting and music industries. Developing a love for music was inevitable. I found my love for singing and songwriting around eight years old and finally ended up in the studio to record my first single BOPSTAR early 2023.
Do you play any instrument?
I played piano for a short period of time but that was such a long time ago. My dad got a family piano for our living room and I took some virtual lessons for a bit. I’d love to start learning again because it’s a beautiful instrument.
Do you ever get nervous?
Absolutely. Dealing with anxiety is still something I struggle with. I am very open about mental health because it is something I enjoy speaking about. I have this thing called Nervous-cited! When I’m nervous but also Excited and Just working through that is always different depending on the circumstances. I’m more nervous when it comes to music. Acting to me comes naturally and without much thought. But still, nerves are natural.
Tell us about your new single “ENOUGH?”
Enough is about one of my favorite affirmations. “You are enough.” I think it’s really changed the way I see and go about life. I really wanted to bring attention to this by creating a catchy, and positive song. I hope that people who listen can relate and also understand the message! When you feel nervous, when you second guess yourself, when someone tells you their unwanted opinion – “YOU ARE ENOUGH!”
What’s the story behind the song?
Walking into the studio for the first time and having the opportunity to write about something that I care about. This affirmation naturally came up. The lyrics started to flow in the room. Young teens have a lot of pressure with school, social media, and self image. Mental health is so important but often overlooked in youth. There are so many layers to growing up and so many ways to process. I am grateful to have parents that listen and my mother always talks to me and acknowledges my feelings. We talk through it and the art processing the emotions becomes a part of my daily journey. I wanted the fans to know and believe just like my parents taught me. I AM ENOUGH!
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
Getting to meet such amazing people on set, or even meeting fans outside of set who are so excited to meet me. Oddly enough, seeing myself on the screen or hearing my own songs is not even the coolest part. It’s the people and relationships that come along with all that. The people that you click with immediately, the people you feel like will be by your side till the wheels fall off. It’s priceless!
How do you prepare for a role?
I usually read the entire script. I memorize really fast sometimes without trying. Doing rehearsals and run-throughs is a part of the preparation process also . It’s best not to memorize until the day you actually film because the script keeps changing every day. Even the day you film they change the lines too lol! If it’s a new character, my dad taught some of his methods such as identifying all the relationships in the scene and building off that. There are other exploration methods that he teaches that can use music or writing or doing everything as the character to explore the thoughts and feelings of that character. Pretty fun.
Which fictional character would be the most exciting to meet in real life?
Definitely Miles Morales! He’s Afro Latino like me. He’s African American and Puerto Rican which is literally me, so I believe we would get along super well. I think to live in the spider verse in general would be insane!! The spider verse movies are the greatest animated movies of all time.
Can you name 3 actors/actresses you would love to work with?
I dream of one day being able to work with Lin Manuel Miranda! Hamilton is my favorite musical of all time and I just think he is so beyond talented. I’ve also just watched the entire scream franchise, so to work with Neve Campbell or work in the newer movies with Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera would be mind-blowing.
What’s next for Jaidyn Triplett in the last months of 2023 and for 2024?
I have a birthday coming up Nov 24th!! That’s going to be so much fun!! You can expect more music! I have a single coming out on October 20th called “Enough” and in November I have an EP coming out that will have another single called “GONE WITH THE WIND” – so stay tuned! I also have some live shows in the works between Nov/Dec. Excited to meet the fans and have them sing along with me. I also have a horror movie coming out where I play the lead role. I’m really excited for everyone to see it.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love every single veggie in the world except beets and celery. My go to healthy snack is apples and peanut butter for sure. I also love avocados!
And your favorite cheat food?
I love baking so any of my gourmet desserts can count for this. I make a really delicious nutella mousse cheesecake.
How would you explain your fashion style?
I like to be comfortable first. High waisted loose fitted jeans with white air force ones, some type of fitted shirt with a cute color or pattern or even a hoodie. Make sure my hair and makeup is looking fresh and I’m good to go.
What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?
I’ve always wanted to go on a giant vacation with a ton of people. So I would love to go to Japan with my family and all of our close friends. Like a group of 10+ people touring around Tokyo sounds like a dream come true!
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
I’m just trying to make it to Friday! ???? – I can definitely see more music, more acting, and more producing in my future. It’s what I love. I also hope my baking business is more successful and I can start baking for fans and other customers outside of my friends and family.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
I really think “Because I Liked a Boy” by Sabrina Carpenter is such an amazing karaoke song. As well as “White Ferrari” by Frank Ocean and “Since You Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson.
What do you think of Social Media?
Social media is a great place to build reputation and your image. I think that expressing myself on social media gives people a look into my personal life, not just the roles I’ve played. And both of my songs have done incredibly well on Instagram, TikTok, etc.” I also love posting our family vlogs. It’s become such a cool archive of my life.
