Check out our interview with talented Actress and Singer Nikki Hahn who just released latest single and music video for “Obvious.”
Inspired by 80’s and 90’s rock and pop, Nikki’s style blends the decades together to create her own lane of experimental pop-rock. She is currently working on her debut EP infusing the sounds of her guitar, piano, and bass.
Drawing from life’s highs and lows, “Obvious” was inspired by a missed connection in love. Video production and concept by Nikki herself, the music video follows the story of a girl dropping hints to let a guy know she likes him, dressing up in extravagant ways to grab his attention, with no success. At the end, she gives up trying to let him know she’s interested, ultimately leading her to reject him after he finally comes around.

Hi Nikki, please tell us a little about you?
I’m 18 years old, and I’m an actress and singer/songwriter!
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Determined, creative, passionate
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I was always that kid who loved to play dress-up and act out scenes in Disney movies. My parents were really supportive and gave me the chance to try it out. I met with an agency at 3 years old and signed the contract! From there, I started with modeling and commercials when I was 3, and branched out to television and film when I was 5.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
evolving, strong, genuine
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Music runs in my family. My dad has a degree in classical guitar and used to play in metal bands when I was little. I’ve been singing since I was little, so it was only a matter of time until I shared it with the world. Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, and Lana Del Rey are some of my biggest inspirations. I think their songwriting is so powerful and really resonates with me.
Do you play any instrument?
I play acoustic and electric guitar, ukulele, and piano!!
Do you ever get nervous?
I’ve been in the industry for so long that I don’t really get nervous for anything performance related. I do get nervous with college exams and black belt tests though!!
Tell us about your new single “Obvious?”
Obvious was very inspired by 90’s Britney Spears. I came up with the chord progression and concept at home, brought the idea to my producer, and we started working on it at the beginning of the pandemic. I just felt that we all needed some light and positivity.
What’s the story behind this song?
Obvious is about trying to get someone you like’s attention. In the music video it plays out as a girl who is trying too hard to impress a guy.
What’s next for Nikki Hahn in 2021?
I’ve been in the studio and writing a lot so I’m super excited for my upcoming music! I think people will get to hear another side of me.
What is your favorite song? And why?
My favorite song at the moment is Armageddon It by Def Leppard. It always gets me in a good mood and it never gets old.
Any loves other than music and acting?
I am a second degree black belt in karate, and it really helps me to stay balanced, so I go to my dojo as much as I can. I also LOVE studying astrology and reading people’s birth charts. If I wasn’t an actor or singer I think I would be a fashion designer.
Best advice ever given?
Carrie Fisher told me to stay in school. She’s the only reason I’m in college right now!
How’s a typical day in your life?
A day in my life is normally pretty busy. I do a lot of self-tape auditions, and have Zoom classes. I work on my music and play guitar in my room. Because the industry is opening back up, I’ve been getting invited to a lot of events and movie premieres, so lately I’ve been having to go shopping and find outfits. In the evening I like to swim in my backyard and relax!
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Definitely vinyl shopping and vintage thrifting! Then my dad usually barbecues so I’d have movie night with dinner!
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
My go-to karaoke song is Blank Space by Taylor Swift.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Being healthy and having peace of mind.
Do you support any charities?
Anything to do with animals. I help rescue a lot.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love salmon kabobs! My dad grills them at home and we have them about once a week.
And your favorite cheat food?
Banana cream pie from Urth Caffe!
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
I’d love to meet Joe Elliott from Def Leppard. Def Leppard is my favorite band and their music got me through quarantine!!
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully still doing what I love. I take it one day at a time.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Right now, it depends on my mood. I either like to modernize 80’s trends, or go more classic.
What do you think of Social Media?
Don’t believe everything you see on social media. Sometimes it can be very entertaining and informative, but it can also be very toxic. You just to remind yourself it’s just peoples’ opinions and not facts.
