Hi Mila, please tell us a little about you?
From a young age, I was a competitive gymnast, and at age 12 I switched over to competitive dance. I was inspired by many of my teammates that were in the industry to start acting, and have been acting ever since! Last year I started perusing a music career and now have my first original released.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Loyal
Determined
Caring
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I used to dance competitively, and at my dance studio a lot of my teammates were involved in the industry. I became interested in involving myself in this business and starting taking acting classes. I absolutely fell in love with acting and have continued my journey from there.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Soulful
Expressive
Storytelling
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Both of my parents are classical musicians, so I’ve grown up around a world of music! I’ve always loved to sing and last year I finally had the time to peruse music.
Do you play any instrument?
Not anymore. As a kid I played violin and piano, but now I’m focusing on vocals.
Do you ever get nervous?
Absolutely! When I started acting, going to auditions was terrifying for me, but as I got used to it I learned to focus on being in the moment rather than thinking of what could go wrong. I still have nerves, but I’m able to control them much for effectively.
Tell us about your new single “In My Thoughts?”
In My Thoughts is a very meaningful song to me, and I wrote it from a very vulnerable place. It’s about my inability to express how I feel sometimes, and how I can’t show my true intentions.
What’s the story behind the song?
The song revolves around the confusion in my mind, and this song really helped me release those feelings of unsureness. The song talks about my mental insecurities and how I start to get tired of them. Being in my head and not expressing my true feelings is the overall story of the song.
Did you had plans/concerts planned and cancelled because of COVID? If so have you done any online concerts or interaction with your fans?
I’ve never actually planned to perform live or go on tour in the past, but it is something I’m very interested in doing. I would absolutely love to sing live on stage.
Which project is still on your bucket list?
I would love to have a principal role in a feature film!
What is fun and rewarding about what you do? And what’s not?
Being able to showcase what I do in the industry is very rewarding, because of the audience I continue to grow on my social media. Having so many people support me and see my content is definitely a big reward of my hard work. On the other hand though, social media isn’t always kind and negative feedback does come to play at times.
What’s next for Mila Nabours in 2021?
More music! My next single is dropping soon and maybe even an album or ep… really looking forward to that! Also I’m currently in the works of a couple new acting projects, and am actually going on set in the next few days!
What is you favorite song? And why?
Ozone by Chase Atlantic! It’s a sad song, but it’s so soulful and I absolutely love the melody. I love the buildup in the song, as well.
Any loves other than music?
Acting! I have a very strong passion for acting and continue to work on my craft everyday.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Zendaya or Gerald Butler! I look up to both of them, they’re such incredible actors and artists overall. The way they’re able to portray such raw emotion on film is so impressive.
Best advice ever given?
“Don’t worry about what you can’t control, focus on what you can.”
How’s a typical day in your life?
It can really vary! In the mornings I always have school for around 4-5 hours, and in the afternoon I’m either going to social events/collaborations, recording an audition, or seeing a friend. I always try to get a workout in at some point of my day, and normally spend some time creating content for social media.
Name one your strengths?
Dramatic acting!
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
Lazy Sunday’s are my fave. Chillin or seeing a friend and catching up on sleep is the best.
What is you favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Party in the USA! Ever since I was little I’ve always loved singing that song at karaoke night.
What is your own definition of happiness?
Living a life that bring you joy and inspires you to keep going, and choosing a path that makes you want to work hard.
Do you support any charities?
Yes! I’m an ambassador for Spreading the Love, which is a charity organization that spreads awareness about Autism.
What is your favorite healthy food?
I love basically all fruit, and I love caesar salads as well.
And your favorite cheat food?
Pasta! I never get tired of it.
What would be a deal breaker on a first date?
Never thought of this one! I think I would say it’d be a dealbreaker if my date spent a lot of their time on their phone rather than being involved in the date.
How do you see yourself in 5 years?
Shooting a lot of film and tv, making music, and performing in concerts!
How would you describe your fashion style?
I’m not sure the perfect word to describe my style, but I think it would fall under the day before of edgy street style. I love to shop at Dollskill.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think social media is a great place for showcasing your passions and work, and it can be a place to support one another! There’s always going to be haters, but hate in my eyes always gets overshadowed by kindness.
