Describe yourself in 3 words?
Determined, compassionate & creative
Tell us about your new single “93?”
I have to say I really do love my song ‘93. Writing it was so much fun. I wanted to write a song that reminisced about the carefree days of living in the 90’s. I grew up on 90’s country music
What’s the story behind the song?
I wanted to tell a story & reminisce about simpler days. Days without social media & cell phones. The days where we played outside for hours. Life was just simpler.
Now tell us about the success of your smash single “Nashville?”
I released Nashville right as the pandemic hit. I wasn’t sure how well it was going to do but I was so thrilled that people were so excited about it. Nashville is such a fun uplifting song and we all needed things to cheer us up during this time. My song Nashville did that for people.
Did you have plans/concerts planned and cancelled because of COVID? If so have you done any online concerts or interaction with your fans?
I did have plans to to do some shows and I had interviews planned to promote my single Nashville. As the story goes everything was cancelled. The beauty in all of this is that we had to come up with creative ways to get continue sharing my music. I did a lot of Instagram lives & Facebook lives. I have really learned how to use technology.
Which project is still on your bucket list?
Wow this is a good question. I have a pretty big bucket list. I still want to play The Opry, travel to Peru and see Machu Picchu
What is fun and rewarding about what you do? And what’s not?
What I find fun and rewarding about what I do is when someone says to me that one of my songs helped them through a tough time or that when they hear one of my songs they just feel happy. Music has always helped me so if I can do the same with my music, then that makes me happy.
I can’t think of anything that isn’t rewarding because I love what I do which is making music. To me as long as you love what you do there’s no downside.
What’s next for Kimberly Dawn in the last months of 2020?
For the remainder of this year I have a Christmas album out so I will be promoting that. Continue writing and making more music.
What is you favorite song? And why?
I have some many favorites lol! I couldn’t possibly pick just one.
Any loves other than music?
Oh yes I have many loves other than music one being I love to read. There are so many good books out there and so it is so much fun to just dive into a book and get lost in that. I also love to play a game called Spades. It’s so fun and competitive. My husband and I play with our best friends, Morris and Pam Chestnut (they taught us the game). It’s girl’s against guys and its so fun. I have to say us girls are really good.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
This is a hard question but I could meet anyone it would have to be Elvis Presley. I grew up on him because my mom was an Elvis Super-fan. I think it would be incredible to speak with him about his writing process and what inspired him. I’m sure I would learn a lot from him.
Best advice ever given?
When you are pursuing your passions do it because you love it.
Idea of a perfect Sunday?
My idea of a perfect Sunday is staying in my jammies all day and just binge watch a tv show and maybe take a little nap as well. That would be heaven for me.
What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?
Crazy by Aerosmith
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness is spending quality with my family, having a healthy family , helping other people find their happiness. Philanthropy makes me happy. It feels good to help
Do you support any charities?
I love being involved in charities. I am very philanthropic. One in particular that I recently have gotten involved with is Cancer Cartel. This is a non-profit organization that was started by 3 woman who have all battled cancer at some point. Their mission to provide financial resources and relief to those fighting cancer. Those in the fight should be able to focus 100% on getting well
What is your favorite healthy food?
My favorite healthy food is sushi.
And your favorite cheat food?
My favorite cheat food is between a three musketeers chocolate bar & ketchup chips. It’s a tie
How would you describe your fashion style?
I would describe my fashion style as girl next door with a little bit of rock’n’roll
What do you think of Social Media?
I think social media is a great way to connect with family, friends, and my fans. On the flip side it is important that people don’t allow social media to consume their lives.
