Hi Valy Mo, Please tell us a little about you?
Hello Naluda! My name is Valy Mo and I am a French electronic dance music DJ and producer. I mostly produce house and tech-house. I’ve released tracks on Do Not Duplicate, Spinnin and Musical Freedom and am currently based in Asia.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Omelette du fromage.
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
My first interaction with music production was learning guitar and playing in a rock band in high school. I started using a few softwares to record myself and edit the music. In 2008, I discovered live electronic music at a Justice show. This led me to try my first DAW, FL studio and since that day I never stopped producing. .
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Made for Dancefloors
Do you ever get nervous?
Yes, even after almost 10 years performing, I still feel anxious before playing a show!
Which artists and styles inspired and influenced you?
Artists like Chris lake, who play a major role in electronic music are a big inspiration for me!
When all the partying is over how do you like to chill out?
Mostly, I spend time with my friends or go get some food before going to sleep. I traded after parties for pizzas!
Best stage you have ever play?
My most memorable show was probably my performance at Summer Sonic Japan – infront of 30,000 people. I performed with legends like Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Boys Noize, Pharell, and Ariana Grande. Also, I consider one of my best shows to be Ravolution Festival on the mainstage – in front of the whole city. It was impressive and since that show, I’ve come back to every edition to perform.
Funniest/Crazy thing that ever happened at an event?
Being a DJ, we often have drunk people dancing next to us during a show, but it’s not everyday that the guy next to you throws up right on the decks!
What’s your favorite club to DJ in?
I would have to say parties where a collective invites me to DJ. This is where you can make new friends and it’s always the best party!
Tell us about your new EP “Jugar/Perreo?”
I recently released a very nice EP on the label Do Not Duplicate Recordings (DND Recs) – founded by BIJOI. This EP is composed of 2 songs “Jugar” & “Perreo”. Both songs are perfect for dancefloors and will bring you warm vibes during this cold winter!
What’s the story behind the tracks?
Hypedelic and HEMIS contact me with 2 different ideas for tracks. We decided to turn it into something more Latin sounding, and step by step new ideas led us to finish this EP.
What is fun and rewarding about what you do?
The most rewarding part is traveling and meeting new people! I spend most of my time travelling and discovering new places around me. I am now living in Asia and being able to discover different cultures is amazing! It also plays a major role in my creativity since I hear different sounds that you cannot find anywhere else.
What’s your advice for the newer DJ’s / Producers?
Take your time and avoid getting in the Rat Race, find your rhythm and what inspires you.
What was the first record that you bought?
