Hi, I’m Amber Patiño, I’m 15 years old, I’m half Cuban I love every form of art weather it be singing, acting, writing, martial arts, painting, or dancing anything that involves creative expression I’m in.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
If I had to chose three words, I would say driven, creative, compassionate.
Name one your strengths?
I am a very loving person and tend to take the nurturing role with people. I try to find ways to lift others up and help them find their joy. Even in the darkest of times there is something to be joyful about.
What inspires you?
I love being inspired by people who are completely confident being themselves in all their strange, funny, or precious glory. Take my sister Nicole, as an example. We adopted her through foster care, she has several diagnosis that make life hard on all of us. She has so much stacked against her and yet she is the most confident person I know.
Why and how did you get started in acting?
It wasn’t something I was looking for, I have always been an artist drawing and sketching since I was about six years old. I was face painting at a special needs charity event in Nashville when I started singing to the kids to keep them entertained. Someone heard me singing and off to Hollywood we went.
What roles do you like to play? And why?
I love playing all roles because it gives me a chance to explore different characters and personalities though I tend to get cast for dramatic roles more often.
Tell us about the Hulu series The First?
It is a great Sci-fi Drama series, that takes place 20 years in the future as earth is becoming more inhabitable and so the plan is to colonize Mars.
And about your role?
My role was Amanda, the daughter of the lead scientist Laz Ingram played by Natascha McElhone. My character was the good girl in the family who always wanted to please her mother. It was fun being on The First for so many reasons. I got to work along side some incredibly talented Actor’s like Natascha, Sean Penn, Tracie Thoms, Anna Jacoby-Heron to name a few. The entire cast and crew were amazing the sets were incredibly detailed and thought out. Let’s not forget my wardrobe I felt like Christmas every time I walked into the dressing room. I loved everything I got to wear.
What’s your advice for the newer actors?
Going into this field is exciting, sometimes difficult and very expensive. I see a lot of fellow actors in the lobby at auditions that are super stressed about getting the role. If this is your passion then know that you are living your best life, it’s not about the roles you get it’s about the hard work and dedication you put into your craft. Go into every audition as if that audition is your job, be kind and supportive to your fellow workers waiting to do their job, the audition. Walk out of every audition proud of a job well done. Everything after that is out of your control so let it go, if you get a call back or a role, think of it as your bonus check for the job you did when auditioning.
What other projects you have been part of?
I am most proud of a song I was hired to write for a movie in production right now called Aimee, my song is called “Find You”. I’m also in a Netflix movie called Jurassic School. It’s a super sweet Children’s movie about my brother Tommy, played by Gabriel Bennet, making a real Dinosaur in Science class. I play Chloe the big sister. It was so fun to shoot and I made some great friendships there. I’ve been in a couple of music videos, some car commercials and a dozen or so Indie shorts. I’m also a singer songwriter and have written and recorded several songs with my partner/producer, Lucas Bakker. We recently released my song Supernova on all streaming platforms.
How does a normal day in your life look like?
I practice music daily my piano, ukulele and my songs. I take time to journal and free write songs everyday. If I am with my sister in Texas, I dedicate a lot of sibling time to her. If I am in LA working, I am usually in the studio every chance I get. Other than that devoting quality time to friends and family is important to me. Lastly I try to take time to respond to everyone who comments on my social media posts because I wouldn’t be where I am now with the support of others around me.
What has been the hardest part of your career?
The hardest part of my career is not having all of my family in one place. We all used to live in LA but the life there was too challenging for my older special needs sister and now that she’s 18 we are establishing a long term home for her in Texas.

How important is Social Media for you?
I think social media is a big part of our technology driven world. All of these things draw us further away from real human interactions. In the industry I am in, it is a necessary platform for getting your word out. As an actress, directors and casting use it to help them determine how many fans you will bring to the project. As a singer I want to be able to share my music. This industry that I am in brings a lot of notoriety or fame, however, as a 15 year old girl I want to share with the world that I’m no different than they are. I’m a person that’s done Has some really cool projects, these things that are possible for anyone if they are poring their heart and soul into living their passion. I’m more of a human contact kind of person. I like seeing people face to face spending quality time with people. I like going into bookstores and talking to the book seller about a book rather than ordering it online without the human interaction. Social media can be consuming and it’s important than we maintain a balance.
