Hi Luna Violet, please tell us a little about you?
Hi, I’m Luna. I’m an upcoming actress, writer, musician, and creator based in Los Angeles.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Spontaneous, Dark, Creative
We’re sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
When I was around the age of 7, I took an interest in acting and began getting involved in musical theatre. In middle school I started doing social media and posting content. In 2018 I got the opportunity to walk NYFW for two different seasons. That’s when I began professionally pursuing my career in the entertainment industry, however some stuff happened in 2019-2020 that caused me to take a break from it all, so this year I’m starting new and going right back into things.
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
Some of my biggest musical influences include You Me At Six, Pale Waves, Boston Manor, Fleetwood Mac, and PVRIS. The story behind me making music honestly isn’t similar to most. I don’t have a long musical background or years of training. In 2020 I got really depressed during quarantine. I didn’t really know anything about music originally going into it but I woke up one day and was like “hey I wanna write a song so I can stop feeling so sad” and now here we are I guess lol.
Do you play any instrument?
I can play some banjo, ukulele, piano, and guitar.
Tell us about your new single “blue?”
“Blue” is my debut single I wrote during quarantine to cope with a traumatic situation that happened back in 2019. I wrote it as a way to take back the power of my own story and my own life and to finally move on from the things that made me feel powerless for two years straight.
What’s the story behind the song?
I struggle with my mental health. I have severe anxiety and panic disorder. I’m very open about these things now, but I wasn’t always. In the summer of 2019, I was at my absolute lowest point. I trusted telling a girl who I believed was my best friend at the time what I was going through. A few weeks later she went behind my back and told everyone everything I had told only her. She posted it on social media and turned my story and the things I was struggling with into a joke. A lot of my friends turned against me due to this and I got consistently cyberbullied for over a year and a half. It got so bad that I ended up having to move, delete all my accounts, change my name, etc just to feel somewhat okay again. This song for me is about trusting someone who stabs you in the back, and opening up topics for other gen-z kids regarding the negative stigma around mental health.
What is the best and worst part of being an independent artist?
The best part is getting the freedom to do whatever I want and be whoever I want to be. The worst part is definitely having to figure so much out by yourself. It’s easy to feel lost and alone at times.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part of my work is getting to set my own schedule and have my own freedom. Also I love working on something new and creative everyday. I get tired of the same old routine fast.
How would your best friend describe you?
Adventurous.
What’s next for Luna Violet in 2021?
In 2021 I am hoping to publish the book I’m working on, release my second single, and continue to make progress in acting.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Definitely tofu!
And your favorite cheat food?
Cheesecake or any kind of Thai food
How would you explain your fashion style?
Honestly my fashion style kinda depends on the mood I’m in that day. I don’t really limit myself to one specific style or aesthetic. I’m too indecisive for that.
What is your own definition of happiness?
My definition of happiness is being content in the present moment with who you are and what you surround yourself with on a daily basis.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
If I could meet anyone living or dead, I would want to meet Stevie Nicks. She’s been a huge inspiration of mine ever since I was a child.
Best advice ever given?
“To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.” – The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years from now?
In 5 years I hope to see myself happy.
Favorite song? Why?
My favourite song is No One Does It Better by You Me At Six. It brings me so much nostalgia and positive memories everytime I listen to it.
What do you think of Social Media?
I think that social media is good in moderation, but I also think it can be very harmful if used too much. Every now and then I try to take a break from it so I can be more present in the real world and focus on myself.
