Hi Alexandra, please tell us a little about you?
I’m originally from Roswell, NM. I am currently living in New York working as a nurse as well as singing. I have a twin sister and amazing family and friends. Also a Beagle named Beagle who I love very much.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Very loving, a doer, and a good listener
We are sure you have been asked this million times but how did you get in the industry?
I have always loved singing, but didn’t really start doing my own until 5-6 years ago when I moved to LA, after a bad break up.
Describe your sound in 3 words?
Pop, electro-pop, Top 40
Who influenced you and why did you choose to make music?
I feel like there were many amazing people who influenced, me but I absolutely loved Christina Aguilera growing up. I feel like working on music makes me so happy, and seeing how it affects, or helps others.
Do you play any instrument?
I play a little piano, and I’m currently learning how to play guitar.
Do you ever get nervous?
Yes all the time. haha.Trying to work on that.
Tell us about your hit singles “Ruins” and “People Pleaser?”
Yes, I’m so excited there are music videos coming out for both so keep an eye out for that, also Jawny and I will be releasing an EP later this year.
What is the story behind the songs?
People pleaser is a song that is very important to me, because I have always been a people pleaser. Afraid for anyone to be mad at me, and needing others approval of me to be happy. I am in the midst of trying to not be like that anymore, knowing that it’s only going to hurt me. So the song is about overcoming my weaknesses.
Ruins came about because Jawny and I were working on our first of many songs together, and I wanted to do a song about a past relationship, where the relationship was almost perfect, but there was an addiction involved that was ruining our relationship. Jawny also had a similar experience and we wanted to do it from both points of view, about staying in a relationship that is already in “ruins”, knowing that it’s not good for either of you.
I hope that these songs can help others in similar situations.
Did you had plans/concerts planned and cancelled because of COVID? If so have you done any online concerts or interaction with your fans?
I did, which is sad, but hopefully they will come back soon! I tried the online concerts, but to be honest I don’t like them, and I don’t think other people like watching ANY of them very much, even with celebrities haha. I could be wrong though. It’s just not the same.
Which project is still on your bucket list?
I would like to do whole album soon, and I’m going to make each song specific to men I’ve had in my life. So that should be interesting, so keep an eye out.
What is fun and rewarding about what you do? And what is not?
I love hearing feedback from others in how my music may have helped them in some aspect.Someone messaged me the other day with a story about being in abusive relationship and how my song “people Pleaser” helped them through this, and that they hoped younger girls would listen and get the same message, of not trying to just be a people pleaser, or staying in a situation that’s unhealthy for you. So I thought that was amazing!
Unrewarding, I don’t know, I feel like I’ve had some negative experiences working with people, but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and you learn more from each experience, so I wouldn’t necessarily say any of it has been unrewarding.
What’s next for Alexandra Fresquez in 2021?
2 music videos, I have a few placements on MTV Ghosted and Ex On The Beach so listen for those. Shoutout to Activista music for making that possible. Also Jawny and I’s EP is coming soon, and I am very excited I loved those songs more than many that I’ve working on. So keep an eye out for that. That EP is whole story in itself with a-lot of ups and downs, that I will also be explaining at some point.
What is you favorite song? And why?
Beyond the Sea by Bobby Dairn is my favorite. It just takes me to a happy place.
Any loves other than music?
I loveeee dance. I grew up dancing as well, and haven’t done it as much lately, but I try to incorporate it in my shows, and music videos.
If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Tupac and Betty White. I think I would just die if I met either of them.
Best advice ever given?
Live every day to the fullest, and don’t let yourself get in the way of your dreams. You hold yourself back, not anyone else.
How is a typical day in your life?
